    Why does the value of rep vary?

    Harmless question, always puzzled me.

    People of high reputation have most influence over members of lower rep. I guess it's kind of an acknowledgement that high rep members have been here a long time, know how things work and are more respected. Because of this their opinion matters more when they're giving rep to others.

    The highest rep members can give 10 positive rep points or 5 negative rep points to another member. People of lower reputation are able to give less than these values. Some junior members can only award neutral rep in the General Chat forum and sub forums.
