It seems everyday a new 'directory guru' launches 20 or 30 (or more) new identical crap directories and here is what happens to them http://www.namepros.com/established-sites-for-sale/419606-web-directories-for-sale.html I am happy to report that most senior and other knowledgable members don't waste their time anymore submitting to them but there are still a lot of young DP'ers wasting their time. HEADS UP!
Nice find there, I believe that OP on that thread must be seriously drunk to sell all that crap at such high price & I am sure he will now sell sitewides if it does not sell
Not only Namepros has its directory "gurus". DP as well... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=660553
its people like this that are bringing down the directory industry had my two cents worth here and here
I agree.... When that "mod" comes into play then large clusters of directories will be impossible to manage and will force others to hire editors as we do now This mod will have 2 main purposes... 1. Offer True Reviews 2. Stop Spam Directories ALSO $1.99 .info domains "Will Not" be included in our submission lists as we know that those are spam favorites as 500 free script directories are built daily for less then the cost of a Mcdonalds happy meal and do absolutely nothing but waste submitters time after they are sold 1 month later or as soon as PR updates then sold and and databases are dumped... thx malcolm
C'mon, you guys won't submit to my directory network? It might also be up for sale... But seriously, I am moving away from this style. I didn't build it, I bought it (at a very bad time, regretably), and the one I'm working on now will hopefully be something I can be proud of, and others can respect.
I know some DP'ers sell network directory links like those who sell blog posts. Be honest, It endangers the whole directory industry.
I haven't seen so many, but I don't surely like the "databases are dumped" part. I am sure some of the folks actually bought cheap featured links on them.
Much like you we have invested in our network adding mods and features to enhance what we have and is a never ending job, unlike the fly by nites that build and sell next week we take care off what we have and try and offer the best options available like many directory owners already do. The problem is when you have someone build 100 directories then have people submit sites that sit in limbo for months then are sold and the databases dumped shortly after and emails harvested which is what is happening and know one likes it. I myself see nothing wrong with owning several directories providing you can take care of them and hire editors to maintain it. The mod that i talked about above will surely be a jewel to owners and submitters alike as directory owners would actually be able to "review sites" then supply feed back with the pros and cons about the website that will help the submitters and give an opinion which not many if any other directories currently offer and will be a win win situation for everyone. thx malcolm
I'm happy with just the one directory. I have put some work into it and it is paying off. I hope to have it in the long haul, even though I could well do with the money if someone was to buy it from me. It would give me some more time to work on my other projects.
100 brand new free directories http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=660553 What worries me more is the following comment by him:
