Some are saying.. Paul vs Kucinich in 2008 as the contest of the century.. two honest politicians going head to head. Maybe these guys should go for a 3rd party ticket and run together? Talk about uniting the parties.. could people live with this answer?
I don't know that much about Kucinic, but I can't imagine Paul running with him. Kucinic is certainly not a constitutionalist. He is anti-gun and pro-taxes. These are major turnoffs for conservative Republicans. Right to carry firearms is essentual for a Republic, and involuntary redistribution of wealth doesn't fit in either I think Gravel would be somewhat better than Kucinic
It would never happen. And neither of them would run with someone who wasn't 100% eye for eye on every issue.
Not true. Ron has said he would support a candidate who would be for ending the war ASAP. But there is a problem in that Kucinich doesn't bring a lot to the table when it comes to organization or fund raising. A lot of Paul's support comes from the Libertarian, Old Right, Goldwater Conservatives, and Constitution Party. None of those groups would endorse a candidate like Dennis.
I don't know if Kucinic is honest, maybe he is. But it seems like almost the only similarity between the two, besides their stance on Iraq
Kucinich is a god guy. He's my candidate. However, I don't see him running on the same ticket as Ron Paul. They are two different and I kind of wonder if the people who think Paul and Kucinich should run together are old enough to vote. I mean they are like mixing oil and water. Yeah, they might have it in common that they both want major changes in our system, but for different reasons. For example Kucinich wants to add government programs and Paul wants to get rid of current ones. I just don't see how anyone could want Paul and Kucinich on the same ticket. What're your stance on taxes: Fair taxes or Progressive taxes? Socialized healthcare? The Department of Education? What is your stance on candidates using religion to get elected? (ie. I noticed Ron Paul's cross on the url bar when browsing his website) Kucinich is very socially astute, and believes in strong and robust social programs, whereas ron paul would say no to just about every one of those social programs....makes me wonder how much the ron paul supporters actually look into policy if they believe that these two candidates have anything in common.
Exactly, we are talking about an honest socialist anti-free market guy and honest anti-socialist free market guy running together. Doesn't make any sense. They may seem similar because neither pushes NAU and one-world government agenda like the rest of candidates, but you just have to dig a little to see that they are not compatible
Most of us know they are different, yet this is coming from the person who claimed Kucinich was the only one to do several things when in fact he wasn't.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=530239 That being said they both come off honest to me compared to the rest of them, I however would not vote for Kucinich, nor does thinking they are honest by any means make me or anyone else saying they have the same goals/ideas. Realistically nobody does, not even Cheney and Bush.
I call BS. Paul does not promote his religious beliefs as part of his platform. The favicon has been the same for months, it RP, 08 4 letters on a white background. C'mon now. Unfortunately, Dennis is very smart and has his heart in the right place. However, he's talking about restrained socialism, which when the wrong people are in power, gets abused. If the system is not scaled back, and returned to the people, we're going to go broke with the ministries of this and that, and the department of something and the other. And lastly on Dennis, his one major difference with Dr. Paul is that Dennis wants good things for the people, organized social programs. But Kucinich thinks we should pay for those, whether we use/need them or not. That is socialism. And socialism is a totally, economically inviable system. You're seeing a lot of difference in the momentum of these campaigns because Paul appeals to the establishment, doctors, health care professionals, alternative medicine practitioners. They know that central economic planning in care leads to worse working conditions, limited choices and lower standards.
Kucinich's wife suggests in this video Dennis might consider running with Paul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjiGuOsKr04
Because the corporate media decides who to cover, who to embed coverage with, and who to obsess about like they did with Anna Nicole each day. In a sad way, we should be happy that guys like Kucinich, Paul, Gravel and Tancredo get any platform. It's obvious that the powers that be expect us to pick from a pool of 3 on the Dem side, and maybe 4 on the GOP side. Those are the people they cover, those are the people who get the most time in debates. That's part of what is interesting about the Paul campaign. He's cracked the code of grassroots support. Fund raising in the shadows, and outdrawing "first tier" candidates like Romney by a factor of 5 on University campuses.
And he feigns ignorance and/or disbelief over the whole thing.. I kinda find it hard to believe that people are only just now discovering him after 30 years in service.. more likely he has some brilliant strategists on his side. He's certainly no dummy himself.
It also helps that the 'republicans' do not act like republicans anymore, and the fact that so many are sick with the main stream candidates on both sides of the fence.
It's not an act. I'm immersed in the grassroots every single day. The campaign has little to nothing to do with it, that's how it has to be under the FEC, and frankly, whenever the campaign suggests something, it's usually thrashed and tossed out. So when you say he has some smart people working for him, I would counter that he has incredibly loyal people working for him, and some of them are smart. But there are literally thousands of people working every single day to promote him by themselves and in groups. All working independently, on their own ideas, self-organized and decentralized. Sometimes I am so close to it, that I forget how amazing it is. For example, South Carolina is an early primary, and they need more boots on the ground. So last night, supporters from Georgia were thinking to organize weekly to join the SC canvassing efforts. Then of course, is the ultimate, Operation Live Free or Die, which has seen Paul supporters move from all over the country to New Hampshire to supplement the campaign staff. It was organized by Vijay Boypati (sp!), a Seattle Washington Google employee, who quit his job to make the move and organize the effort. http://www.operationlivefreeordie.com/FAQ.html Some of these stories are very courageous. No other campaign has this sort of grassroots determination. I'm wondering if there has ever been a campaign with this kind of support and passion. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say, it's the message, the man and the platform that drives the campaign, not the hired staffers and tacticians. Heck, in the first 9 months of this year, the campaign had only spent $3 million or so. Everyday, ideas organize, thrive and die on ronpaulforums.com. All without the campaign's interference. Some of these grassroots ideas move too fast for the campaign.
