AdSense on a private forum?

    Hello all,

I am working on a forum that is basically "locked down" and available to members only, unregistered members cannot even see certain boards on the site.
I am planning to run AdSense on the site, and was wondering if the AdSense spiders will still "know" what kind of ads to display even though the forum is totally private?

    Thanks in advance

yes you can use adsense on private forum ...
for letting the adsense spiders to crawl the content you have to give username and password in your adsense account...never tried it ..but read it somewhere on the net ...google for more info..

    No Problem..
Use the Site Authentication Feature in your Adsense Control Panel..

adsense can be used on private pages.

there is an authentication section on adsense control panel.

you will provide an username and password to adsensebot on this tab

You may have to ask Google specifically for it. It does not show up in my account, either, although when someone posted a link to it before, I was able to bring it up, Google just needs to provide the link on your menu.

    See:

When I just tried the link now, the page came up, but I couldn't do anything with it...I'd drop Google a line and ask about it.

I don't think that there should be a problem. Google can still key off the title of the webpage or subject of the site to display ads.
I have a couple of categories on one of my forums that are locked but that have adsense ads on them and the ads that are displayed there are still relevant.
