I have a pretty well converting site via AdWords, problem is that Google isn't sending enough traffic. Granted the web site is just a one-pager, but Google doesn't want to put me on the first page results. If I could get much more traffic at the price/click I paying now it would be a goldmine but right now its rather disheartening. By the way, I am paying pretty well. 98% of the hits I am getting are from the content network, not search results. I got about 12,500 impressions on the content network but only 600 on the search results. Ahh!
ARe you using DKI? That can help with CTR. Also, if you you're having success in the content network you could also try site targeting...find the sites that converting the best in the content network and use the AdWords tools to find other sites like it for site targeting.
DKI didn't really work for me. I tried {KeyWord: XXXXXX} then I did a search for my ad on Google Search under my keyword for some reason it only displayed XXXXXX instead of the search term.... weird. Anyways, I'll experiment with the content network site matching feature you talked about.
That's a QS issue - until your quality score is high enough DKI won't work. Let us know how it goes...I've seen it work quite a bit. Good luck!
If you are looking for more volume, you might want to try other PPC networks (YSM, ASK, Adcenter). Also, try increasing your Max CPC. Assuming you have a decent quality score, you will find that your ad may get higher placement for a few extra cent.
Whatz the average position you are getting for your keywords on the networks? Are you having seperate campaigns for search and content network? Have you tried with the google's estimator tool?
Nope, same ads and they are enabled for both networks. My keywords in search rarely get any clicks anymore compared to the content network. For examples yesterday I got about 22,000 impression (in search and content network) and all the hits came from content network. The search only got about 1,700 impressions. I am just wondering how Google thinks. Why am I in the content network and not in the search? Do most people turn it off?
Try having seperate campaigns for search and content network., If your content campaign is performing well, turn of the search campaign and create a seperate campaign for search with the same set of keywords., This helps in also controlling your budget for search and content., Try having very little keywords per adgroup , group the keywords based on the theme if you have site targetted CPC (Not Site targetted CPM) enabled in your account, you can also try GuyFromChicago's suggestion.,
