I wonder which bogus reason was used to remove link which was listed for years long before I become editor? http://www.dmoz.org/Society/History..._and_Conflicts/Yugoslav_Wars/Croatia_1991-95/ Armed Forces - Covering armed forces of former Yugoslav republics and conflict in former Yugoslavia. http://directory.google.com/Top/Soc..._and_Conflicts/Yugoslav_Wars/Croatia_1991-95/ I really wonder what possible reasons could there be for removal of link to section with several hundred web pages full of unique content most of which is unavailable anywhere else on the internet? Or is it new DMOZ policy of removing any kind of possibly useful content from directory until only porn, pills and ringtons are left?
Dude, dmoz is crap , editors suck.I stopped submitting my sites to DMOZ long time ago.THE funny thing is , they are adding my sites without my submission and after 3 months they are removing them : )
I submitted my sites a long time ago when i thought dmoz was good. My sites are prolly not approved anyway's. There are other directories that are better then dmoz if you submit site to them.
No black helicopters or second gun man on grassy knolls sorry. You got caught up in a automatic quality control filter. Seems to be fixed now
I bet the reason are that the corrupt editors need more link juice to their own links that they placed there. (not saying that all editors are corrupt, but a few are).
OK fair cop, login, you worked out the truth. The search term "Croatian Wars of 1991 to 95" is one of the most sought after, many submitters and editors seek to have their sites listed in that category, and without editors shutting out their competitors there would be several hundred thousand sites listed in that category. I just had a look through the unreviewed queue of the category and there were hundreds of spam submissions, Croatian War ring tones, Viagra for Croatian War veterans and Croatian War themed casino sites.
AQCF? So that is responsible for most categories looking like Sahara desert. I admit, those are all mine. P.S. Actually Viagra is selling like crazy here so you might be on to something, special discount for veterans might bring in nice sales.
Just for the record - the site is back in the category (and it has been for several days). Without disclosing to much information I can inform you that the site was moved to unreviewed because it had changed URL and content. Further review showed (by looking at archive.org) that only the layout had changed (because of the new CMS). Hans PS! Yes, I'm an ODP editor (which my signature will show when I'm allowed to have one). PS2! Why do you want your site in .../Twentieth_Century/Wars_and_Conflicts/Yugoslav_Wars/Croatia_1991-95/? Isn't it much more appropriate in Twentieth_Century/Wars_and_Conflicts/Yugoslav_Wars/? I'm asking for your (qualified) opinion. PS! Didn't you conclude a bit hastily in your first post?
Now your in trouble, revealing anything on DP especially to me isn't very liked by metas. I use to be editor of Yugoslav_Wars and was planing to move it but got removed before I did that. When I openly revealed on this forum that I'm editor and that my little 2200+ pages websites has 11 deeplinks out of which 9 got listed before I even become editor all hell broke lose and metas simply decided to remove me after fabricating evidence in the warning and they continue with their paranoia by constantly monitoring my internet activities and moving to unreviewed anything that belongs whenever possible - if they putt all that energy to cleaning up backlog there wouldn't be any. My links are real pain in someone's behind since every excuses in the book is used to delisted them while everything else goes untouched. If I said I bought cnn.com I bet it too would get unreviewed before checking, hey I could get all my competitors removed this way! Lets see I'm new owner of totalwar.com. BTW three more links are gone from: http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Regions/Former_Yugoslavia/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/Regions/Former_Yugoslavia/ http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Croatia/Government/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Regional/Europe/Croatia/Government/ http://www.dmoz.org/Society/History/By_Region/Europe/Yugoslavia/ http://directory.google.com/Top/Society/History/By_Region/Europe/Yugoslavia/ AQCF again?
As you guys probably are able to discover, am I a meta - so I can kick myself out of ODP if I go too far ;-) Revealing that ODP does (some) quality control is old news ... and good news (even if some of you think ODP contains many bad listings[1]). Your site has been moved to http://www.dmoz.org/Society/History/By_Time_Period/Twentieth_Century/Wars_and_Conflicts/Yugoslav_Wars/ Regarding the removals in Regional I can't say, but maybe an editor wasn't aware of that multiple listing in topical and regional is allowed according to the ODP guidelines? Regards, Hans [1] Quoting your initial post: If you really find porn sites in the non-adult part of ODP/dmoz.org, please let me know - I'll be happy to send it off to Adult. However, the very exciting ring-tone selling sites, we have to live with I guess.
Well if there is some inner circle which you aren't part of don't be surprised when you can't log in anymore... Thanks, now we shall see if I can actually get a visitor or two a month. So few people read the guidelines that it is really shameful, maybe if they were made top secret then people would want to read them?
