    Hi All,

Can anyone gimme the url of any site which is banned by Google?
Does banned sites looses its ranking or it also looses the indexed pages?

Does yahoo, MSN, AltaVista and other search engines also ban the sites?

    Regards
    Harry

Yes, others search engines ban sites too.
If there are no results when you search site:domain.com in Google you are banned. That means that there are no indexed pages.

There is no way to definitively tell if a site is banned in Google or simply not indexed. Just because a site shows no pages indexed does not necessarily mean that site is banned.

You can have a site showing in the cache one day, and not the next, the data Google presents publically is not the same as their internal data.

Yes they ban sites, they also have only indexed a portion of the web.

All search engines ban sites, Alta Vista is just a clone of Yahoo and I can't recall the last time I've seen a referrer from Alta Vista,

But, there is no connection between sites that Google bans and sites the other engines ban, there are sites sitting atop MSN and Yahoo, that are not indexed by Google, that doesn't mean they are banned by Google, there are many possible options as to why sites appear in one engine and not another, banning is just 1 option

If your site was in Google and are not in Google anymore you are banned or de-indexed witch are just the same. There is a reason that you are not in Google anymore and that is what counts. It means that they kicked you out.

True, but remember that Google is a machine, Very very few of the things we see happening with Google are due to any human intervention. Machines screw up too. There are often many server related issues on the user end that can cause issues with indexing and deindexing.

I've seen tons of sites pop in and out of the index over a period of time, for no apparent reason. Sometimes sites are banned, sometimes they are not indexed, sometimes Google just screws up, and they've had more screw ups than I have toes and fingers, & sometimes the user screws up.. I have no hard evidence to support this but there are a lot of very good sites that disappear from Google and it has nothing to do with a ban..

But when someone sees their site disappear they often assume they have done something wrong and go make massive changes to their site which wasn't broke in the first place..

The official site for the software WebPosition GOLD was banned by google 2 years back. I don't remember its URL now. You won't find it if you do a search for 'WebPosition GOLD' on Google.

Because a site does not get listed when using site:www.domain.com does NOT mean that the site is banned. It simply means that the site is not indexed!!

    Hi Harry,

It's very seldom that you have seen a banned website because of the fact that billions of website up in the internet. But if you have at least one found, you can easily identify this when you have pagerank toolbar installed in your pc.

When you have pagerank toolbar in your pc, and the color of the tool bar is gray, meaning it is banned.

Have to disagree with you on that one.

A new website isnt baned, it just isnt indexed by Google!

Doesnt mean it is banned i.e will never be indexed by Google!

    Thats the difference!

It can also be with many pages of a new site. So this doesn't prove that the site is banned.
