VBSEo helps out to increase traffic and Search Engine Results... but don't expect to get your site at the real top of search engines to fast, neither any fast results. VBSEo it's just the beginning... there are many other things you need to do to get on the top...
this should help you out? http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=272660 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=163295 very useful threads. Should answer all your questions!
lmao Use it. It's free. Minstrel will be quick to recommend a free Zoints but not even a free VBSEO which will be supported and developed. Funny how that works.
Hello Folks I run two german forums, one for patients with medical questions (www.patientenfragen.net) and a forum for parents with (medical) questions (www.elternfragen.net). Both forums together generate a low 3 digit revenue. Google seems to love my patient forum cause I get "huge" traffic (for a forum of my size) already. Last friday I decided to spend some money I earned and reinvest it into the forum. I was a vBSEO skeptic as well, especially because of the encrypted code. But I waved my concerns and gave it a try. I can't yet tell you much about success of vBSEO regarding Google and co. but for all of you who are interested, I started a "case study" over at vBSEO.com here: http://www.vbseo.com/f84/patientenfragen-net-vbseo-case-study-15198/ But what I can tell you is this: So far I am totally happy with vBSEO. It is easy to install. Very customizable. The support is VERY quick, excellent and they even offer help with products that conflict with vBSEO which other vendors don't care about. I like the rewritten URLs and the option to totally customize them to your needs. But I think what most people don't get whar vBSEO is about, that vBSEO is not just about rewriting URLs, vBSEO is about reducing duplicate content. Every post, every thread has several different URLs on a standard vB Forum. There is the showthread.php?t= version, the showthread.php?p= version, there is showpost.php?p=, then there is the archive and so on. vBSEO gets rid of all of them by making them use one fix url without losing the functionality of these features. There are also a lot of nice features to increase keyword density, adsense section targeting is implemented very nicely, and a lot of other pro's. Even though I can't tell if it really makes a huge difference or not yet, I am going to buy a second vBSEO License this or next week for my parents forum. I want to have my URLs rewritten before the next Google PR update in estimated mid-August. Best regards StarBuG
None of which matters in the slightest. This seems to be based on the misguided notion that there is some sort of "duplicate content penalty". There isn't. Duplicate URLs are simply filtered out of search results.
All of them, or just the ones after the first one? If all of the "duplicate" pages are filtered out of the results, then I'd most certainly call that a penalty. I mean, ask those filtered pages if they feel penalized Doesn't really matter though as the penalty is a misguided notion as you said Duplicate Content and vBulletin Forums
I strongly suggest using it Especially if it's free ..lol pay no attention the minstral, it's a vbseo hater troll
There is an annual fee if you wish to maintain upgrades, so nothing is really free So I'd ask around on how hard it is to uninstall. He may be a troll, but he is generally correct If you can get passed the nasty bits his posts are actually very informative...just don't tell him I said that.
If there are two or more URLs pointing to the same content, one of them will be indexed. The rest will be ignored.
i did not used it before. i prefer to use zoint. it makes the sef urls like vbseo and it's free. vbseo is completely waste of money
What most people dont seem to realize, is that to Google, the showthread and archive page, appear to be somewhat different. Similar but different. Look at this tool: http://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php Use these 2 pages to compare: http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80 http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-80.html What makes the pages different is that the header, footer and other showthread elements are different then the archive elements. Its all explained in the article and backed up with data. Duplicate Content and vBulletin Forums Its my personal belief that all the duplicate content hype is just that, hype. Take a look at Google News. You'll have dozens of the same story listed, but from different sites. When AP or another news agency sends a story out, many online newspapers publish it, but dont get penalized. Its because the other elements outside of the actual story are different. Something that would trigger a filter would be if I had 2 domains on my site, all pointing to the exact same pages with a different URL. i.e. http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=80 http://www.vbulletin-faq.org/forum/showthread.php?t=80 One of those would likely be filtered out - At the same time, if I just exact copied a page from somewhere and uploaded it to a URL of mine, (stole someone's entire page) that would get filtered. Again, Its all explained in the article and backed up with data. Duplicate Content and vBulletin Forums
Not one but FIVE self-promoting links in a single post, Joey? We don't need to read your article. I think most of us know full well what duplicate content filters are and, to return to the point, no one needs vBSEO to do anything about them. The ONLY reason anyone would bother is if they were worrying about funneling PageRank. And anyone worrying about that is stuck in 2004.
