I would pay someone to get a perfectly legitimate site into DMOZ. I have been trying for over 6 months and still no luck. How much would someone charge me? plz PM.
By making that offer to pay, you possibly just got yourself tagged - really bad move (did you see this thread) When you say "trying", does that mean you have submitted more than once? If, then that might be the reason - every time you submit you just overwrite the previous submission with the new date and move your site back if the editor sorts the pool of sites by date. Otherwise it can take 2 minutes to a few years (if site meets guidelines) to never (if it does not meet the guidelines). If you are talking about the two sites in your signature, then don't bother waiting as they are not even listable.
How much are you willing to pay, better yet why even worry about that? Just do the normal SEO stuff and forget about being listed in DMOZ. It sounds to me like you're mind isn't on the right track, if you know what I mean.
I don't think other than an editor can get you there and if you go on normal course it is just a little chance that you may get in demoz.
Why would you pay someone for trying to list you on dmoz, when you could pay someone to write you some content, to notice you in their blog, to buy some links and all other good stuff.
They accept any shit including MFA, pharmacy, gambling and illegal porn; as long as you pay the "senior" editors fee for their "SEO" work on your site.
They'll ban you for asking, and will never accept your site unless you bribe a corrupt editor. The alternative is to become a corrupt editor yourself.
Honest editors get removed from DMOZ so what makes you think that corrupt editors would want to share there profits with you?
I know some sites have been waiting for four years to be listed in DMOZ. I wait four months only If DMOZ permits the editors to approve their own sites?
Have you not been reading this forum? The ODP has no value anymore and will be no more soon enough. If you really want to promote your site, submit to any of the hundreds who offer directories right here on DP.
That must be an old article, or the person that wrote it didn't do their homework good enough. Have you checked the google directory recently? It's not been updated in over a year. post 900
Editors don't ever consult Alexa, or Google PR, as a factor in deciding whether to list sites. Reason - those are based on how good the webmaster is at SEO - DMOZ is based on originality and quality of material regardless of SEO ability. An editor taking Alexa rank or PR into account would be sanctioned.
