What the heck?

I do not understand why someone would do this so I am hoping one of you know.

    My site Apopularitycontest.com

    Their site: zmdistancelearning.info/450171-61-0.html

Now if you look at the bottom of their site there is a link to one of the polls on my site. The poll has nothing to do with their site. They actually have a few other domains doing the same things. Their sites look exactly the same, just with a different link to one of my polls. Any clue?

You realize you just gave their site a backlink, but not your own?

Edit your post and take my advice here: Tip on linking to non-compliant sites

    _______________

I'd likely not worry about the link at the bottom of their page though. It's not hurting (and likely not helping) you. There are also a good chance that they have a thousand pages just like that one, one of which likely points to one of my pages. *shrug*

Perhaps they are posting votes/ comments on the poll site with their links, and are trying to use the spam site to drive link popularity to that particular page?

I have no links back to them though. I can't see any value to it than possibly trying to look more like a real site to google by having a valid non ad link.

Maybe it was to get you to look? If that was the case, then mission completed.

Did you happen to find the link in your stats, then head over to check it out? I hear that's some type of traffic tactic *shrug*

Stats is how I found it so maybe. I have been getting around 5 hits a day from that one link alone so I guess I shouldn't complain. I am more than willing to look at a page once to get 10 visitors.

If you can, check the stats on those visitors/hits. Verify they are actual humans (if that's possible *shrug*)

I would ignore it. I've gotten strange links from strange sites in the past, most vanish rather quickly.

Looking like a computer. Just checked google analytics, and they report zero hits from any of their domains.
