Just started using this site a couple of weeks ago and it has loads of useful information. I see a lot of posts with the verbage "reps" or "rep" either asking for them or giving them to you if you do something for them. Can anybody tell me what reps are and how do they work. Also, how do I give them....Thanks

rep=reputation (the green boxes below post count on the upper right corner of every post)

you give reps by clicking the scale icon

Check out the rep FAQ - it provides a very useful guide.

I just looked at the rep FAQ and tried to find my rep points and clicked the little blocks, but I don't see or get any onformation. Am I restricted from giving or receiving reps because I'm new?

It's all mentioned in the rep FAQ!
But yes, you are restricted. You can't positively (or negatively) influence anyone's rep until you have more than 10 rep points yourself. You probably have 10 points now, because it's what everyone begins with. Once you have 10+ rep you can begin awarding (or withdrawing) 1 rep point to (or from) members who you want to reward (or punish) - your 'repping' power will increase with time and as you become a more respected member. Conversely, your repping power will decrease if you attract too much negative rep yourself. Rep awarded in the General Chat forums and sub-forums is neutral - this is to avoid petty repping over disagreements between members.
You award rep by clicking on the scales icon ([IMG]) in the corner of the post you wish to reward. You view your own rep by looking at the bottom of the subscribed threads list in your User CP.
I think that's about all you need to know for now!

It is reputation... Somebody will give you a green rep if your post is nice or agree with you and red is they disagree with you. If you receive a green be happy but if you receive a red. Be aware..
