Article submitting is one great way. I would suggest you use Artemis for this. It's free software that works great. I recently got 800 successful submissions with two articles for my "Quest for Online Riches" blog. You can download the software from my blog down below. The day after submitting the first article, my blog suddenly appeared in Google again. It had disappeared, even when doing an intitle search for it! So I'm sure it can work for you.

You have to actually have something that people want or are interested in. ie. A product (could easily be content). Then you need to set up an affiliate program. Build a list. Just to name a few things. It takes work to make money, this is the case in the real world, not sure why people would really believe there is a difference when you get online.

If you write an interesting article and people digg is a lot, you can get the nice digg effect if your page is posted on the from page of digg.com! Or atleast the category that it belongs to.

to get more traffic you need time and some budget. my site is about 10 months old i barely do anythign to improve traffic and i only got like 100 unique a day. try more free site url or directory submission for more backlinks andlinks popularity. also update and add content often those would help.

optimize your keywords, get links from other sites by hiperlinking the anchor text with your site's url! that's the way you reach to the top of SERPs and get organic traffic, i would also suggest the article submission, as you get contextual links that way!
use adwords and also write some articles , adding in the directory will help you to increase back links and increasing in PR

What you need is relevant links. The links should be subject related. You can also go for relevant reciprocal links. Some major directory links are good for the site.
