Just let me in! It's the easiest way to get into the largest search engines ... but it sure takes long. Wonder how many webmasters wait a month - and their submissions still not being approved try again - and get banned... I'll bet it's a few.
Yes you do, it will make you labeled as a spammer. Every time you re-submit you go to the bottom of the que, aswell.
Thats not true. Submitting once again after a month will NOT get you labelled a spammer. Submitting monthly a number of times will.
So if I spam my competitor website daily he will get banned! YESSSS! Now I just have to find a competitor beside wikipedia...
The post above suggested that submitting a site again after a month is spam and will get you banned. I responded saying that 2 submissions over a month won't get you banned. Submitting a site a lot more than once a month might get your IP blocked.
I'm just making sure and will rely on your qoute so when your colleagues in the sekrit forum with a special mention of Hutch, won't regards the peeps as SPAMMAS.
This is even better, since I'm on very small local ISP I can connect via several major ISP to make thousands of spammy submissions so DMOZ will ban entire IP range and block all of the major ISP here!
my coworker is an editor and there are only a few in his category one of my sites and 3 of his sites....Its not right but thats how it is. It didnt help my site at all being listed there.
I don't think so. I submitted a .com site once and they added the .biz domain instead with much less content and functions Also they simply ignore the quality of good and correct descriptions and titles on the sites they add. /Andreas
Your co-worker sounds like an abuser who needs to be found and removed. Tending ones own (or a co-workers) sites and failing to find and add additional ones is abuse. That is pretty vague isn't it? There could be any number of reasons that the .biz site would be listed and not a mirror on a .com. It is possible it was a mistake and its even more possible that its the correct listing but without knowing the sites all we can do is speculate. As for the bad descriptions and titles, if you see them report them through the update link. That will be greatly appreciated.
And if he is hiding his affiliations and identity it is impossible task, oh well there is always some scapegoat which can be used to prove that abuse is not tolerated at DMOZ even if there isn't one, why risk it, just remove any editor which raises suspicions, who cares about proof, at the same time real abusers are safe or maybe they are the ones going around accusing other editors of abuse to remove attention from themselves. Or the simplest explanation editor knows nothing about topic of the category, that seems to happen often at DMOZ. Which will take another several months or years to get reviewed.
Well you know best ivan . I am not here to argue with you, and trying to discuss it will prove impossible, but here are some final thoughts. There are various forms of abuse and they don't all involve an edit to a site. Of course you already know that, and any editor can look at a removed editor and generally see why they were removed. You were no scapegoat. I think I did say it was possible it was a mistake. No new editor is going to be mistake free and experienced editors make mistakes too. Without knowing the URL its impossible to say for sure but the most probable reason is that the .biz site appeared to be the main site and the .com appeared to be a mirror. If that is not the case, what possible harm could there be in naming the sites in question and letting someone look and see? None, so unless the sites don't really exist or the facts are there that support the theory of the listing is correct there is no reason to 'hide' the URL. It's possible that it may still take a long time, but you conveniently left out the part that update requests are much more visible and and flagged as a higher priority for editors so they generally get reviewed quicker.
Here's my take. Its always the PEONS that gets the beating. The Meta with the cat gets away with her ways. I'll just wait for a special day when the sun comes shining in.
