Hi, I am new here. I think you should make it more clear what reputation is and explain it in the welcome message and explain the difference between reputation and itrader.

The first thing you should do after joining a forum is read the FAQ/Rules and then only start posting, so you dont get messed up with things and do any mistakes and get banned

I am saying this because not many people give out rep points. There should be some kind of promotion or something that encourages people to give out rep's more often

People do rep all the time.

and you made this post without looking at the stickys in this forum that explain it all for you?
then wonder why you get red rep and post how unfair it was to get an infraction, when you still didnt read the threads that explain the difference between itrader, infractions, and reps.
did you check to see if you got red reps for this post?

posts like this attract red reps like coke does wasps:eek:

Read, read, read. That's the best advice you'll hear. I know it's easier to ask and have your questions answered, but the answers are all here if you look.

Rep is the most interesting part of this forum to me so I am a rep info hound. I hunt it down and read it.

Welcome to the wonderful world of rep!

I'm a perfect example that people give out green reps. You have to be consistent at not posting crap in the threads. Be useful to the community as a whole and you'll get your share of :D .

Like I said in the rep I gave you, you have to pass it out.

I see now. My rep points are down to 2. People from this thread gave me red. May I ask why? I know the difference and read the rules and FAQ when I registered. I know from experience that people would not be bothered to read all of that, so I was just giving a suggestion. I don't know why you would attack me like that.

Why aren't you asking why people gave you greens? I'm sure that you just opened up the door for more red invites with your last post.

I'm pretty sure the reds were a way for people to tell you that you should have read the sticky on rep before making such a suggestion. Rep is something that needs to be learned in an individual way. It's not like DP has time to give classes. That's why they make important posts into a sticky.

If people don't care enough to read them, like you said, then why should we waste our time teaching? You have to do the work to get the grade, or in this case, the green rep.

In general, these are what attract red reps:

    1. Posting a thread where the answer is just a search away in this forum.
    2. Making a post asking for reps.
    3. "I got an infraction" threads.
    4. Posting in the Politics & Religion. IMO

Try to avoid this and you'll minimize getting reds. Make good posts and get greens.
