Ok, I know what the rep system system is. I know how to give people reps. But may I ask what is the point of this? Is there some reward people get for getting high reps or does it just make them look better? Also, I see some members who have a high number of posts but only one green bar. Then there are those with alot of bars. What is the person with the high number of bars doing differently than the person with the one bar? Thanks.
Reps just shows how useful your posts are in the community... essentially. People rep to show appreciation.. Also there is no reward for high reps.
Rep serves as a form of member moderation. I saw a member post a porn link and the community jumped on him like a duck on a junebug.
yes i remember that, he got my first red rep, and probably he was the fastest to go to red reps zone! but then, there is no reward, it is just reputation. if someone has more green blobs, means he is reputed and trusted, so you can trust on him! anyways, reputation points are always nice to have, and it make you feel good. reputaion point acts as a feel good factor! if it ++
Reps is just telling you reputation of that members on the forums. Send me PayPal ID. Sold it now. with resale right.
The value of having reps for me is to be able to red someone who tries to undercut/lowball me in the b/s/t area. You have to have green rep to give red because it takes one point away from you each time you do it. I have passed out 4 reds, and then I noticed that someone I gave the red to was banned from DP. For how long, I don't know. Obviously, I'm not the only one who thought they deserved a red. I always sign my reps, red or green, and if it's a red, I tell them why I give it to them so hopefully they won't do it again. Although they probably never even see them because they can't even read all of the posts in a thread before posting in the first place, why would they look at their rep points at their User CP? I do pass out green to people who answer my questions, help me out, etc. Sometimes I just give a green because I thought their post was funny, funny, funny. Green or red reps don't count here in the general chat area, most of the time, unless the person handing them out has lots of green blocks. Otherwise they show up as blue/gray. In the suggestions/feedback area there is a sticky about reps and it has some great info there. It has a chart to tell how many points you need to get a certain number of blocks. I still only have one, but I'm new here and learning the ways of DP, because I love it. Mary
