PayPal is one of the worst payment processors i have ever seen.. all the sad PayPal stories speak for themselves. Worse of all, its not available in every country and this create a lot of mess up then why don't people just consider going with MoneyBookers or StormPay e.t.c.?
It's mainly a trust issue and the fact that it's popular... putting your bank info online is risky business and people don't like to risk that..
Paypal established themselves years ago. Depending on the country, it is very easy to get an account. Even people under 18 can get an account (even though they are not supposed to). It's not Paypal's fault they are not available everywhere, the card associations control that. Paypal decides then on what to do and which ones to comply with. Maybe they are not available in certain countries because of a higher risk of fraud. Like all businesses, Paypal wants to make money. Fraud hurts Paypal and cuts into the bottom line. Even though Stormpay / Moneybookers might have been around for awhile - not that many people know about them and they don't feel confident giving them their personal financial information.
My clients know and trust PayPal. They would be suspicious of StormPay or Moneybookers. I can't get a Stormpay account as they are not licensed in and do not accept applications from Texas. I don't know what other states they don't support. What is wrong with PayPal? They may not support all countries but I've never had a serious problem in 4 years and phone support is fast and helpful.
At least they have a dispute system. With Moneybookers if you paid and don't get delivery from the vendor there is NOTHING you can do. Moneybookers will not get involved. Paypal protects the buyer (unless its a virtual item). Moneybookers protects the seller.
The main reason why PayPal is most widely used is that it started a long ago and was one of the few payment processors that time. One of the biggest reason to trust them is that they are owned by Ebay (one of the biggest site of the world). It's only the ebay that people like to give them their personal information they don't feel confident giving other processors like Moneybookers, stormpay etc. I've heard quite a lot of paypal stories and personally don't like paypal because it is not available in my country lol. Paypal should consider all countries if it wants to be known as worldwide payment processor.
Well I haven’t had any problems with them. The issue is that everyone uses Paypal so using other payment systems isn’t even an option.
Strange point of view I'm DP member since only ten days ago and I have seen at least ten topics from you asking how to get into Paypal trying so many different ways.
I already have a legal PayPal account but i can't withdraw money directly to my home address so i always need to look for peoples to exchange money with.
Money Bookers - worst service of any processor I have encountered seems someone is having problems with Money Bookers. Unfortunately this cannot be helped. A company grows - it gets more clients. You are not going to be able to please everyone all the time. And of course, this is money we are dealing with which tends to make people a bit more sensitive. And it is human nature for most of us to complain to anyone who will listen. Forums and blogs are the perfect outlet for this. For every one person that likes a company - there will be more that dislike that company or had a problem. It's just like any other service that you use - use it more and something will go wrong. For example, you get up, turn on your computer to check your email every day and not think twice about the power company supplying the power to your home or the broadband provider supplying that. If your computer does not connect, you get irritated and then check (usually pretty quickly) to make sure that it is not your system or router. And probably while checking, dialing the number to the broadband company since you fear it might be a long hold time. Just the same with the payment providers - they put the money into your account and it is not thought of. But the time that something happens - that's the time we tend to remember
First : i want to agree with Corey Bryant. Second : Since there are so many PayPal users it is hard to be an exception and do without PayPal. Peer pressure, otherwise you are not able to make dealings with the majority.
I don't know how good is PayPal since I've just started using it (only for sending money for now) but I have heard only good things about moneybookers and people in my country (who don't like online transactions btw) don't have any problems with it. I'm using both myself. p.l.u.r.
Ive never had one problem using it. And can you name any company with over 100 million users that doesn't have a lot of horror stories? It doesn't mean its a bad company just means when you have so many customers your bound to get things go wrong. And there isnt any other processor nearly as good as paypal since they don't have the reach.
