I have an image host with a great domain (www.imghosting.us) but am having a really hard time getting it off the ground. I know I need a new design, but other than that how do I make it popular?

One biggy that jumps out is the menu at the top doesn't work for me, I can hover over the words home, faq, about, contact..... but can't click them.

Something that really worked for me was offering links to the image the user just uploaded. So for example:

Get the HTML code now! And in that HTML code you include a link back to your site. So you get click through's + the SEO benefits.

In addition try going to niche forums and offer your site as a way for users to upload pictures. Don't spam. Only offer where it's needed.

Last, but not least. The almighty SEO really works. At least for me it did. I have a niche keyword and I get almost 50 people a day from it. I rank #2 in Google for it. Although SEO takes more time then the others it reaps the best benefits. Free, quality traffic! :) Doesn't get much better than that my friend.

Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

I highly doubt that's true. Don't pretend to be more than you are. Just offer a service that people want.

I have to agree, although I didn't mention it, I did notice it.

I don't know if your site allows it, but an idea is teaming up with a bit torrent type of site that does adult links.. Get them to use you as their "offical" image host.

    • Post on high traffic forums.
    • Post blog comments advertising an IMAGE hosted on your site NOT your image hosting site.
    • Post daily links to a long list of social network sites
    • Create a blog and populate it mostly with pictures and post image urls from your image hosting site
    • Make sure your image hosting site mounts the pictures in an HTML page so your users can VIRALIZE the image
    • Offer a premium to your users to post their stuff on your hosting system--offer a prize or a points-based system
If you need to OUTSOURCE these tasks for cheap, hit me up.

When users get the code for their image they uploaded make sure you have that image clickable and linking back to your site. Also add a small link below it linking to your site. Hit up myspace, create an account and get new friends to join and advertise it to them. MySpace users love image hosting sites...thats how photobucket.com got so huge.

I used to own piclynk.com - image hosting site and just sold it couple months ago. It's a lot of work man!

I responded to the exact same question in another thread around 8:30am this last Sunday morning and a little after 10am the person requesting the help contacted me to let me know the traffic and users were pouring in.

So based his response and the other points I bring up in my response in that thread I would have to say that the method works very well.

    Check it out:
