And end-up back there in another decade, with a very dangerous situtation? No thanks.

This doesn't prove anything, chief. We occupied and still occupy Germany. Does that mean their government is a puppet government?

Ok, then we don't have to discuss the justification for an invasion.

Anyway, one thing that I don't really understand is how you define loosing. Did the allies loose WW2 just because more than a certain number of troops got killed? If so, WW2 must have been more than a 1000 times worse loss for the allies than Iraq will ever be.

    In war everyone loses mate.

That is the nature of war. It's not like the A-Team where nobody on either side gets killed mate.

No point destroying entire countries and killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians though mate. That makes the US/UK/Israel/the west etc no better than the terrorists.

I think all the new features that our security agencies have got since 9/11 is good enough. For example, in London there's like a several security cameras in every streetcorner. There's also smart cameras in the subway that can read your body language. Pretty hard/impossible for terrorists to get anything done there, I say.

The argument for the coalition to stay in Iraq is that a withdrawal could make the situation worser within Iraq and the region around. The government could be over throned and the baath party can take over.

Nah.. but lets say an A-team that have much more success.

Anyway, what if America wouldn't help you Brits in the WW2? What the anti-war movement would succeed to stop the efforts?

America made a major contribution on the western European continent and I'm myself thankful for that.

What's with all the references to World War 2, all of a sudden? Attempting to draw parallels between WWII and the war in Iraq is an affront to the memory of the many millions who died!

WWII was orchestrated and unleashed by a despotic madman who cheated his was to power using the electoral system, then staged a number of 'events' to pretend they, the Germans and the Nazi party, were being attacked, in order to consolidate that power in his own hands.

This allowed the other nations; Japan and Italy, most notably, to unleash their own imperialistic ambitions.

    We are discussing war anyway.

Now the issue is if coalition are loosing, which some suggest because America have lost 3k soldiers. However, the WW2 in which the allies officially won, America lost 400k soldiers.

I'm not suggesting that the coalition are winning, but I'm wondering on what basis the conclusions is made that the coalition is loosing.

WWII cost the lives of over 60 million people*

As for Iraq, the stated objectives were to find WMD's and free the country from tyranny - spectacularly unsuccessful on both counts, I would say, so on that basis rather than the hideous body-counting going on in this thread, I would say the war in Iraq is being lost.

It's a mess made by the US and the UK - unfortunately, it is incumbent upon both countries to fix it so it will rumble on for many more months, if not years, before our countries eventually withdraw and a victory 'against Western imperialism' is declared by the insurgient groups currently at work.

    * Large UK supermarket that sells poultry for people that don't know. Our version (ish) of the US WalMart (you know, coming into town, springing up everywhere and ruining the livelihoods of the Ma and Pa stores.)
