Paypal Linking Limitations

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by Lojo, Feb 27, 2013.

I just tried linking my Paypal account with Digital Point and received an error message saying: "We're sorry, but only Business or Premier accounts can grant this permission. To grant it, you must first upgrade your account."

Do you have a solution for us "Personal" account holders?

    Thanks

The limitation is not imposed by us, it's imposed by PayPal. Personal accounts are not able to use the PayPal APIs... the error is coming directly from PayPal (not us).

And when you think about it, it actually makes sense... if you are conducting business and receiving payments for products/services, it should be a business/premier account (not a personal account). Personal accounts are mainly for buying things, not selling things.

PayPal fees are the same regardless of the account type, so to be honest, I'm not sure what the advantage is for having a personal PayPal account only (basically you just can't accept credit card payments).

Correct... PayPal does not allow API usage for personal accounts (which makes sense really because personal accounts are not for conducting business, and someone just paying for things would never need to set up transactions via the API).
