    Hi,

I have not used digital point in a bit but I am a member here for over 4 years.

How come I am unable to post in Marketplace and it says I need points or trophys. I use to be able to do this before.

"You can Like content (Liking dumb things to try and help someone become established will get you banned)."

This would put fear in the average user.

e.g someone posts a funny response to a question

Better not like that.... Could be considered 'dumb' get me banned and not line digital points premium membership pockets oh noees

Rule of Thumb: If you have ANY doubt, if you should like a post or not, then don't.

You won't get banned for giving out likes or receive any warnings. The staff are *very* good at not judging the giving out of likes. They only react if there is some abuse of that. For instance a member gave out 64 likes in a row to *everyone* who posted on her thread. Most of the posts were pure garbage. She got banned but that was an extreme example.
And getting likes is not hard at all, in fact most of the members who were complaining a few weeks ago now have their likes and all is well.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the kinds of things on this forum, that is why I go to the marketplace for someone to do it for me. I logged in today to get a landing page made, headed over to the design forum and wtf.

Should I go and learn all these things just to be able to hire someone? Something I have been doing for years on here? Waste my time ass licking in the hope that someone will like my posts? Maybe shell out $125 for premium.... ahhh thats the one!

Not really: I am referring to common sense, whereas you are referring to that the mods consider everything as "dumb", which is not the case.

Let me give you some examples of what I (and probably 90% of other people) would consider to be dumb and what not:

A witty retort - not dumb
someone posts a funny response to a question - not dumb
Someone explains something in great detail - not dumb
Someone explains something in short terms - not dumb
    A 3 word response - dumb
    Spam - dumb
    Linkdrops -dumb
A request to like a post - dumb
spamming your likes to everyone and everything - dumb

That's an over the top reaction.

Don't enter into a like exchange, don't like stuff such as "PM sent", "I want likes", "Thx", "hi and welcome to the forum" and similar.

I've had funny responses liked. No one has been banned (that I know of). Shawn didn't ban himself for liking this. I've also liked funny posts, informative posts, helpful posts, etc. Even if the post didn't help me, but I thought it was useful information for the individual they were responding to.

I have seen people being banned due to blatant begging for likes.

Someone also received an infraction for liking dumb stuff because the people receiving likes reported their own posts.

It good that someone who has been active here knows what the mods consider dumb, now what about those who don't know the mods threshold for dumb?

Are they going to be more or less likely to 'Like' posts?

You have a brain, you use websites, you use products. There is a review section where people ask for reviews of their websites. You can always give a constructive review of your experience of using their site, suggestions for improvements, etc.

How much more on a plate do you need it?

It's not about licking arse. It's an hour or so of effort, if you aren't capable of that, then I guess the like system has served its purpose.

So, you just want to be on the receiving end, right?

I don't think it's to much to ask for a little contribution in the community. 3 likes is NOTHING. If you just want to sell your stuff, there are plenty other places... But I am no mod, so I shouldn't talk to you like that...

Also: things change and people have to adapt. If you can't, though luck. That's evolution, baby.
