    not a nice idea.... is there any important system file which we could delete or move to a temprory location so that the system stops booting and then when we want we could move it back to the original location and the system starts booting

    hey u may just remove the cdrom and show it to them sayin tht the rom has gone for repairs for some cd stuck stuff... and then say tht there are also some hardware problem.. cause remving a cd rom is no issues..

    apart for the above idea .. just loose the screw for the lcd display and itz done.. just say tht display is not wrkin...

    Removing the RAM is a good idea. Just google for how to replace the RAM on whatever laptop you've got, and you'll find out how to remove it. It's pretty easy, and at worst will require removing a few screws. I've seen gorillas remove and replace RAM, if you're human you can do it easy.

    well If those geeks who want your laptop are not computer geeks.. just change the boot device to anything other than ur hdd i.e IDE0 (mostly) and it should stop it booting into windows
