Hoist by your own petard, Spam Tutor? :D

    Yes. Please do tell us.

Thanks for the link to that thread, jaybong. Yet another excellent reason to throw Aaron's book in the trash and rush out to buy the one from Spam Tutor.

If you mean how do search engines treat websites that have become disassociated with their industry, I'd have to say the sites in question would be less favored in the SERPs by the SE's algo.

As I said in the thread you mentioned, "...REMOVE the dry cleaners links from your forum signature. This website (DP) is associated with webmasters and Internet marketing. It is NOT representative of dry cleaning and laundry services. ...you must work towards associating your website with other sites that are related to your industry. This is done by cultivating inbounds from those sites to yours."

And of course you then stated:

From my experience, I strongly disagree. While a forum sig might not completely ruin your site's positions, it certainly can't help, especially if your site has little to do with the forum's main focus. Wherever an inbound link to your site resides, your site becomes associated with the origin website. Since the ultimate plan is permanent, well-defined SERPs, it pays to keep your site in on-topic company.

As for the original poster, I think he got confused posting inbounds to his client since the domains were similar in spelling. I found several where he had posted the wrong URL with London in the anchor.

Uhhh... How would that link TO a dry cleaner be a link TO his site?

Are you saying that, because the links in my signature are not to SEO sites, I shouldn't include them in my signature on any forum other than another mental health forum?

Just trying to clarify your "expert opinions" here...

I did warn you several pages back that this thread was not going to end well for you, you know.

I have no idea what you're asking, or even talking about. As for mental health, my advice is yes, do seek a professional immediately. Just a guess, but your problems may be due to the years of heavy Prosac abuse. Please withdraw slowly.

I reported this thread and asked for it to be locked. Seems little point for the arguments to continue.
