No, if you want to prove it, tell me a keyphrase your site is ranking for, then tell me the URL and I will check the backlinks myself.

Of course, links from forum posting and forum signature both work for SEO purpose and they also generate direct traffics, especially form niche relative forums and classified forums. Backlinking via forum is one of my main channels in building backlinks.

As per my concern, It does matter, It is counted as back links by Google and It surely moves traffic to you site. For maximum benefit your sig links should be relevant to the forum you're posting in. Your signature could result in quality backlinks, improving the popularity and overall search engine ranking of your website.

When you sig. have your targeted keywords for the linked page, it impacts positive on your search ranking. Another thing I have noticed that it is counted by Google also as back links.

 

Of course they count a backlinks but they do not carry so much weight.

 

if your still on a certain forum site and you can still post your signature then that also helps!

I asked the same question on another forum and they really think different. BHW people believe that forum signatures and profile signatures are link juicy. At this point I am really confused.

 

Yes, it still worthy but only if you have quantity and quality post.
I was testing on the forum signature about half years ago, use only forum signature without any other link building, and i can say they are giving me very good result but the result is still satisfy me

 

I am not very concerned whether forum signature links help me in my serp effort or not... but I am pleased with them as long as they provide me direct organic traffic!
After all... we target serp position only for traffic...right?

That's right we want traffic. Nonetheless, Search engine traffic is the best traffic we could have.

NO! It depends how exactly you want to use those forum signature or Forum profile links.
I have 10-20 MNS sites that are made on straight keyword in domains and with little bit of forum profiles links, They are ranking pretty good.
Key is to know your stuff, and do it the right way. On the other side, Directory submissions are useless, except those few like DMOZ, Yahoo, Business.com etc

there are no absolute yes or no to this question. this really depends upon industry/niche. go find it out yourself. use Analytics.

 

I categorize signature links as social SEO and not traditional SEO. What I mean by social SEO is that the links really don't have much weight as far as ranking factors go, but they do have the ability to create loyal visitors and followers, which can be just as potent and profitable. Either way, it doesn't hurt to have a signature link.

 

Anyhow, i still agree that Forum Sig are really worth to get and spend time and money on. Some of my site rank pr 1 or 2 and get decent traffic everyday from forums.
