Jumping onto the site for the first time I found myself wondering what the site was all about. I wouldn't admit that you don't have activity with the contest. People will automatically move on from there without even giving you a chance. Keep the contest, but put it on another page with a link from the home page. The design is nice and clean, no problems there. Everything seems to be easily navigated. From there I'd add content and lots of it. Go with an article to get the search engines to notice you. Research your keywords...you can read entire books about this...SEObook is very good. If you don't like writing then hire writers, it isn't as expensive as you might think. I'm sure there is probably a funny video search engine of some kind out there since Google and the others like it don't index videos, so I'd look into that.

Hi phillip. I'd suggest you should work on improving the home page. Its a short one paged, and the site looks small. You should give space to the different sections of your site on the home page to attract visitors in browsing the site and finding their way around.

I would get a shorter URL. People might turn away if they see it's a sub directory.

    - buy a domain name and point that to the sub-directory if you want.
    - Re-design your homepage (more images and such), add more images, etc.
You could add stuff like: "Recently submitted" on homepage where you add all recent videos and stuff.

    - Integrate the forum better. Now it's like a whole seperate site.

    - Adsense is not good integrated.
I also suggest you remove the adsense on your homepage.
The main point of the homepage is drawing the visitors deeper into your site, not sending them directly away when they click on your adsense ads

    - Make the total width of the site bigger like 800 pixels.

    More stuff on my mind...
Please PM me and i'll give you my msn address to have a chat if you want more details. ;)

    Questions to ask yourself

    - What's your target market?
    - Where do they hang out at?
    - How can you reach them?
    - How can you get your link on other sites that your target market visits?

Also try link dumps they work pretty well for entertainment sites.

Some of the best ways to advertise online are free! Have you tried publishing a press release? A press release is a popular way of letting the media know about your business and important things that are happening in it. A press release is not something that you issue whenever the mood should strike, however. They are a marketing tool that should be used only when you have something newsworthy to announce.

This can quickly attract radio, TV, newspaper and Internet publicity that creates more traffic, link exchanges, more prospects, more sales and more profits in less time at little or no cost. Whether you're promoting a website, book, event, business, service or even yourself, free publicity can be very important as a way you can showcase yourself to potential clients and customers. If used effectively, free publicity can blow away any advertising you can buy--at any price.

To check it out, I suggest starting with PRWeb, i-Newswire.com or free-press-release.com

    Other Suggestions (for free advertising)

1.) Submit your site to search engines and directories

Using auto submission software: The best semi-auto search engine submitter ( and SEO software) IMHO is Arelis's IBP. IBP 9 was released in June 2006. IBP and ARELIS have been integrated into one user interface so your linking campaign can be run from the same program. It allows you to choose how your site is submitted offering hand submission, semi-automatic submissions and auto submits (which I never ever use).

The new version offers many more features than the previous version and I believe that it is the best SEO tool available to date. For example, the new IBP version now analyzes Google PageRank, Alexa TrafficRank, inbound links, inbound link texts, IP addresses and allot more. If you've never checked out this kind of stuff, you should take a look at IBP 9. You can download it for free, so you really have nothing to lose by checking it out.

There are lots of smaller directories that you can submit your site to, as well. Some charge a small fee, but many are still free:

    - directory.google.com
    - www.greenstalk.com

2.) Write a Newsletter (to build an opt-in list of loyal newsletter subscribers)

As I mention in a previous post today, the Constant Contact email marketing solution has had such a positive impact on my business that highly recommend it to you. It’s simple to use, reliable and extremely affordable. Professional email templates, reporting and free live support are just some of the features they offer.

3.) Build a strong reciprocal link campaign

One helpful place to get you started with a good link campaign might be LinksManager.com. This is an editor-based link management application service. Designed with a high code of ethics to facilitate thoughtful and relevant linking for the end user, LinksManager manages reciprocal links, and helps increase website traffic through linking with other like-minded quality sites. Designed for both novice and expert users, LinksManager can manage links content in many ways: Create pages of exit links, reciprocal links with related sites, one-way links, a large themed directory or portal site, a news resource, advertisements structured as links, other exit resources, dictionaries, custom search engines, and more.

4.) Give away free expert content - (Submit articles to article directories)

Believe it or not, one of the best ways you can build your credibility, establish a solid online reputation, and drive a steady stream of traffic to your site is by writing informative articles on a topic that related to your products or services--and then giving them away to other sites for free!

Remember ... people come online looking for information and the sites that can provide it stand the best chance of securing their business

Below are a few great article directories to submit to:

    www.ezinearticles.com
    www.freesticky.com
    www.ideamarketers.com
    www.findsticky.com

5.) e-Zine Classifieds and Classified Ads Sites Post free classified ads!

In the offline world, there has always been one marketing tool that small businesses have turned to again and again to reach HUGE audiences with a minimal investment. The good news for online businesses is that classified advertising is not only a valuable marketing tool offline, it is also a powerful way to reach thousands of potential customers and generate incredible profits online, all with very little (if any) investment.

In fact, online classified are even more effective than traditional newspaper classifieds because they give your potential visitors the opportunity to click through a link in order to instantly get more information!

Think of it this way: When people are perusing the classified ad section of their Sunday paper, they're not always looking to buy. They're just snooping to see what they MIGHT like to purchase or to see if there are any good deals out there. SO when they come across the perfect puppy, or the perfect pair of skis, or the perfect leather sofa, they may be tempted by the offer, but unwilling to make the effort to pick up the phone, arrange an appointment to view the product, drive out to see what's being offered, and then write a check.

This is ALOT of effort when you're only curious or slightly tempted. This is why online classifieds have a HUGE advantage over regular classified ads. Electronic classified ads remove the hassles and barriers--giving people a greater incentive to investigate your offer and buy.

Hope you find some of my suggestions helpful :)

    Best Of Luck!

Gosh, theres some good advice there, and alot of it too. Thanks for that post lily, you get a green one from me.

Although im not to sure about that semi-auto search engine submitter
IMO theres only about 10 real SEs that give traffic and the top 3 SEs give about 90% of that (Google(44%), yahoo(29%), msn(13%), AOL(6%), ASK(5%), other(3%))
as of 07/06 looks like (rounded to the nearest whole number)

It would be good if this software could be used for Directories, but that would feel like a black hat technique and should probably be avoided

Thanks for the rest though, time to follow you advice

Thank you kindly. And I agree. The semi-auto search engine submitter is indeed convenient and tempting, but I do not use it. I use many of their other features, though. And it does list some neat and obscure Directories which I would have not otherwise found and discovered were quite valuable to list in (hand submit to).

Ok, you have tempted me, Im having a look. My gf tells me "Im allowed to look but Thats It!"

The hand submitting DIRs sounds interesting, especially if they are free and dont req link backs

Im sorry, but i didnt find it very useful, after 30mins of it searching for back links it diplayed thousands of pages saying "trial version only", I would hardly call that free or useful. Hmm, was a bit disapointed

Riiiiiight ... I forgot that the free trial has limitations, as most do. I've owned a liscence for 4 years so it's been a while, and I forgot that. Sorry. I have to run right now, but I'll come back later and list some of them for you here as an example, because I CAN access the directories you could not :)

Also, a few of the directories do require backlinks, but heck that's still free!

    *after returning*

OK, well there are soo many directories (especially those listed categoriezed by Country) that I will will only list a small sample of 'unusual to me' American ( and 1 UK!) Web Directories, most of which are free:

    vlib.org
    AAtrax.com
    Chiff.com
    Gimpsy.com ( one time $25 fee)
    JoeAnt.com
    Qango.com
    Splut.com (UK)
    Webworldindex.com
    Netinsert.com
    Webbieworld.com
    Sightquest.com

There are tons more. A vast majority are free and most of the others require a tiny fee (just fyi)

They also have a collection Directories for Asia, Australia, Austria, Benelux, Canada, UK, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Norway, South America, Sweedin, Switzerland, and France.
