Hi, do you think that bounce rate of a website and its Search engine results positions are directly proportional? can anybody share their experience with this? That may really help many. Thanks.
Lot of people think bounce rate does not influence serp rank. I personally think it does have significant effect on serp ranking. Google search results are all about relevant results that people find useful. Low bounce rate means a site is useful for users regarding the keyword. But i wouldn't say its directly proportional.
Thanks man..I do believe that if people stay for a long time on sites that will definitely help on SERPs. (By the way you have got a nice forum - I will be there.. )
I also see from my gg analytic that the traffic also depends on bounce rate. But how to reduct bounce rate?
To reduce bounce rate , you have to create good sites for visitors than search engines. If you have Useful Information for Visitors , they will stay on your site, open more pages and increased on-page time.
I do agree. You have a point out there. Nice content and interesting information make people stay on the site for a long time.
No, However the lower bounce rate you have, the more unique visitors you receive, which shall affect the website popularity in a positive way.
No, it does not effect serps. That's a fact confirmed by google. You can google it if you want, I read some article on it not so long ago. Matt Cutts denied it.
You are very correct. Then can you tell how the local newspaper sites grow high on SERPs are they doing link building? ask them, they will return the question seo? what is that..ha ha.. Its simply because the number of visitors they are getting to read the article redirected from the newspaper ( hardcopy)
Local newspaper sites just need to submit their sites to Google News, Yahoo News etc, they don't even need to do any SEO because Google includes the related news snippets high up in the serps which has links from news sites. They get thousands of visitors from news aggregators including search engines. That's why you see a lot of Blogs trying to act as news sites because they know once their included in Google news it's massive traffic all the way. And about Bounce rate, you need to read my thread - The Truth About Bounce Rate
I do agree with you that bounce rate & SERP are co-related,not only bounce rate but also the CTR is related to SERP.
Their are many factors that we are unaware of and can only speculate on when it comes to the SERP's. If your Bounce Rate is high, then you should be more concerned as to why people are visiting your site for certain keywords, and not finding what they came for.
For me I can understand my bounce rate quicker when I am higher in the SERPs because I have more traffic to look at. I haven't really noticed a huge change in my bounce from SERP changes but there are changes of course. I think when you are lower on the SERP you'll tend to get someone really working hard to find something and its always a hit & miss.
