I know a lot of people are concerned with high bounce rate, I myself was under the impression a high bounce rate means your site is horrible. but after researching and finding out the cause of my high bounce rate I found that it actually means good news. my "how to articles" attract a lot of traffic for my blog, and these articles often have high bounce rate. I was worried at first then after going through my site only my "how to articles" had high bounce rates, the rest of my site was doing fine with an average of 4 page views per visit. After researching I figured that people who visited my "how to articles" find exactly what their looking for and then leave to go off and impliment the steps, it was a big relief. Here's what I found at the Webmasterworld forum: Source: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum81/7339.htm I hope this helps
Yes bounce rates can be a scary thing when they have a high percentage. However what most people don't realize is that they really aren't anything to be afraid of! Bounce rates are just numbers, nothing more, and the more you know about statistics the better.
Really a good article. Inorder to decrease bounce rate, we have to make our website more user friendly with Proper Heading Tags, Navigation. and with proper quality content.
i agree, strive to design the site in a user friendly way with good info and ad placement and the bounce rate wont matter. Obviously adsense and other ads can make the bounce rate high which is good.
Great post on bounce rate. There're many questions on DP on how google react to high bounce rate and you post highlights my point that google doesn't really use bounce rate in ranking websites as it might be inaccurate. Imagine if visitors find all the information they need on the first page thus they don't need to browse anymore and leave your site as they already got everything they needed.... even though it contributes to higher bounce rate the real visitors got the information they needed.
