404 Pages and Adsense is totally ok!

As long as the 404 isn't just "Page doesn't exist", and it has some real content (like ways to get around the 404, etc) then I guess it's fine.

Now 404 pages. They keep on coming..

 

So how about photo and video sites. There are loads of them but still Adsense does not mind. In there rules it say that you can not have copyright stuff like photo sites but video and photo sites are popping up like mushrooms. Anyone got a letter?

The main thing is that you need to have permission from the creator of the copyrighted image to make use of that image. If you can prove that you have permission then Google shouldn't have a problem with you displaying ads on image sites.

 

Most Video sites does not have any permisson from CNN or other sites to juse there videos but still Adsense do not mind.

 

Yeah.. you can implement Adsense in any of your pages without violating Adsense TOS.

 

My 404 is set to redirect after 20 seconds to my home page, so I'm thinking I'm not going to bother with an ad.

But- I did mail adsense referencing this thread, and this is the response I received, it's all common sense, but who knows- some of us may need extra help in this dept

How come AdSense is allowed on 404 pages when the TOS clearly states that:

Prohibited Uses. You shall not (v) display any Ad(s), Link(s), or Referral Button(s) on any error page.

If 404 page is not an error page, I don't know what would be.

 

There is many things you can not do but you can anyway. Its like grass go with the flow with out breaking it. Now Adsense flow is soft flow along and feel the tjing tjing in the bank

So looks like the AdSense team does not know about their TOS. Some people from AdSense reply that it's allowed, and some reply that it's not allowed. My trust in AdSense has just diminished once again.

 

Either those who posted that it is ok are playing around or they are not contacting the right person.

If you read the TOS you can see clearly that it states "(V) no adds on error pages"..

I have sent an email to AdSense myself. Wondering what they will respond

 

I posted a genuine email from Google Adsense i even have his name .

No maybe error pages may not be ok but 404 pages are. I asked 4 times in 4 email showing then the pages and they said ok.
You just ask Google for error pages not 404 pages.
Several members on the forum used the 404 pages to make a extra buck before my thread and have done after with no problem i am sure Adsense would have closed them down.

And THANKS a lot for that RED DOT who ever gave me that, i post a good for every one to make more money i do not get one single green dot, i get a RED from some one hiding behind it.

If you did not like my post just report it as false information or prove me otherwise, do not give small red dots!

 

That causes a 302 redirect to the error page... perhaps it would be considered a 'deceptive redirect', from the email corinaw posted. Run it through this:

You should use:
ErrorDocument 404 /404.php (or whatever your error page is)
for a php site.

I have them on a 404 status page for one site.

Perhaps ASA could clarify this issue...
