Does anyone know of a good online tutorial that walks you through switching a static/traditional html site over to a CMS site? I have an old site that has about 2000 pages and I want to bring it into the 21st century. Thanks.
I doubt there is a good online tutorial that walks you through switching a static/traditional html site over to a CMS site. Any switching a static/traditional html site over to a CMS site is the CMS dependant. So it is a question on what CMS to choose. Regardless of CMS, switching 2000 pages to any CMS will be manual/semi-automatic process. If most of those pages have more or less similar html structure, then custom made program can do the thing. Basically it means the program parses all the pages, extracts the content and generates on the fly another html code or what ever is needed. Again, it all is the html site and the CMS dependant. Programming skills are required.
Well, what would be helpful then? What CMS are you going to use? What html site do you want to switch over to a CMS site? Let me quote you. "You can't throw out generic question and expect specific answer." Modified quote from http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=1244314#post1244314
