Keyword in URL has a pretty decent effect on your SERPs. It's just one of many factors, but if had the choice I would always take the keyword URL over one that does not have the kw

Sometimes I wonder if it has any effect at all. All it really appears to do is bold your URL on a result page if someone searches for that term.

Tell you honestly thats the only real way to power your site... these days Google is strict... so defining in uri is crucial to the longevity of your niche market......... every way you can add the word in the domain you market heres a summary I put to together yesterday read the DP thread here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1509207

you always want everything to be relevant , and if you can get your keyword in your domain it just reinforces it.
You should have your keywords in your heading and subheading and throughout your pages.

I’ve seen time and time again people question whether having their keywords in their domain name will really make any difference to their search engine ranking.

A fairly common response to this question is that if you’re building an authority site then it isn’t all that relevant and if you’re niche marketing then it ‘might’ help but it’s really not all that important.

I think it has a huge impact. In my keyword it is pretty much down to top 10 results having the keyword in url.

My experience is that is has a huge effect. I'm now trying out keywords in subdomains hoping for the same effect. Anyone else with some knowledge on this?

    Hi ysribharath
No doubt site management for SEO can not be by 1 thing. URL by your relevant keyword is also more useful to promote site but it is not everything. you should must work hard to promote it by unique contents, services theme related quality backlinks.

Done properly, it can be huge.

That's a good start. Note that this should rank higher in the United States given that it is a US-centric top level domain (not that we actually use it, mind you).

Do you even know who your REAL competitors are? The only way you're going to find out is via market research, and SEO-wise the best way to do that is to find the best keywords to target for your site, and then see who else is ranking well for those terms across the board.

But to answer your question -- screw the competition. Hard. Without the Vaseline. Your goal when link building will be to get more and better links than they do. I don't mean blog comments, directory submissions, forum posts and signatures, and social media spam, but instead quality merit-based links that your competition would kill themselves to get.

I see a lot of "SEO Experts" who claim to have "done all the SEO" but in fact haven't. Rather than take a look at your site, I'm going to ask you what you've done so far. Please be specific and detailed. I'll let you know what you did right, what you did wrong, and how you can improve things to not just leapfrog ahead your competition but leave them eating dust for a week's worth of Sundays. :)
