Hi, ive recently been looking into E-commerce sites,
Advertising a product which you can get via a dropshipper, customer gives you the money and then you give to dropshipper, then they deliver and the profit for you being the difference between the price that you charge and the dropshipper price...

is there any other ways you can do this??

Ive seen websites selling template websites and stuff for £50, isit worth buying one of them or paying someone to design your own?

any one got any usefool tools, sites, tips or warnings??

also if i got the wrong idea could someone please set me rite?

im currently selling an ecommerce/dropshipping site - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1185274

This is not a template site and a bespoke coded site. Generally templated sites tend to do very badly in the search engines. If you want a decent site which will make you money then check out the thread and grab yourself a barging.

Your concept of dropshipping seems pretty accurate. Basically you know that you are having to pay a certain amount, you have to boost the price up on your site so you are getting some profit. You might look into WorldWideBrands.com. I have an account there and would gladly help you get moving or associate you with a dropshipper if needed, but it all requires a Sales Tax ID (you have to be a legal business). Either way though, there is some useful videos there about how dropshipping works.

My recommendation would be to think of the item(s) you want to sell, then get a unique design. Most of the time you can get them for a very low price in the Buy, Sell, Trade section. From there, have it converted to oscommerce (look up oscommerce on google to see what it does) which basically allows you to manage your store, add products, change pricing, a shopping cart, etc.

Some of the will, some of them won't. If you want, you can shoot me a PM abotu what product(s) you want to sell. I'll see if the dropshipper I have access to for that item (assuming its in the database) will ship to the UK or not.

If they will, then I'll send you their contact information. Maybe you could contact them and see what they would require of you.

    Regards,
    -Travis T.

maybe the best way to go will be with the yahoo stores. also., you could buy the products in wholesale, and then then sell them individually .be sure to sell in small niches with buyers :p

Dropshipping and Wholesale are two different things. Dropshipping is where you sell the product before you have bought it and get your supplier to ship it to your customer.

Wholesale is where you buy a load of stock in and just sell it. Although you can increase your profit with wholesale, you do have to have the capital and storage. Also if you cannot sell an item then its wasted money.

When starting out dropshipping is best. You dont need to have a site, as you can use online auctions such as ebay. Although it tends to work out better if you do both and achieve a steady income.

Ive sent you a PM LukeG28 of a very useful resource.

    All the best

I also have the same question as the OP has.

I live in India and would like to cater to US visitors.my site will be targeted to US peoples. SO how the Tax system will work??I am just a student.

Also, why would people buy from me if they can get the same product from a reputed store like amazon?? For this the cost factor should be in my favor. So do dropshippers provide cheap rates than amazon??

    Thanks.

Amazon is just one company... there are many other dropship companies out there with different products.

Yes you can make money by selling amazon products on your website... it's all about finding the customers and leading them through the sales process. If you can do this then you get the sale.

Basically it boils down to professionalism and the quality of your e commerce site. People will not buy from you if it's a crappy template site that doesn't look professional. There is lots of fraud out there and people are cautious buying from sites they do not know. Quality content and returning traffic builds up trust to the point people will buy from you

Ya. professinalism is a must. Can you provide a rough estimate how much the difference of profit will be in selling via dropshippers VS affiliate sales??
I know it depends on the products but lets say a common product like printer.

WWB does a lot of namebrand stuff. It's just clothing and for some reason teh supplements there wasn't anything. I'd imagine the problem with those companies are that they make their money from bulk sales. A lot of other items can make money through dropshipping for you. I hope you find someone you can work with! :)

I started a ecom site a few months ago and love it, course it's digital downloads, so no shipping and all that. A lot of work if you have physical products, though I've heard of some carts that integrate with drop shippers, that might be good deal.
