Ringtones still worth it?

Hey I just read Shoemoney's $10,000 PPC experiment post, and was wondering if anyone has tried something similar? He put up some pretty impressive numbers.

It just boggles my mind that it would be that easy to use PPC arbitrage to make that much money.

Shoe said he spent like $30k in clicks and generated $140k in revenue.

Even ExxonMobile doesn't see profit margins like that. :p

Let me cite some economics... look at the competition, as long as there is still profit to be made, new additions to the marketplace will continue until profit = expense. Once it crosses this threshold, competition will pull out of the market until this equilibrium is established again. If there're still a lot of people bidding on keywords, there's your cue ;) It's a very good indicator of whether or not to go for something.

99% of affiliate programs are profitable, it's just whether or not you're capable of selling them or not. If you go into it with this frame of mind, you'll do well!

Art - so true. Hadn't thought of it like that.

My plan is to start maybe with bidding on just the $.05 - $.50 per click keywords.

It won't be much traffic, but I can test the waters and see how conversions are going.

The PPC / affiliate game seems so appealing because of the math / arbitrage / differential calculus (ok, not really) involved.

Once you get the system in place, it seems like you can really get a cash-money machine going. :)

The only drawback seems to be paying for clicks now and waiting 45 days (in some cases I hear) before receiving your commissions check.

    @101homebiz
    Here ya go,

    $10,000 PPC experiment

I'd be willing to bet money that it's possibly one of the biggest motivators to get people started on affiliate marketing. I think there're a lot of people in this industry that have Shoemoney to thank for that.

wow, thanks for the link fezbucks :)

My website gets alot of hits for ringtones. But the ones on my site are all free ones, not the latest coolest ones that everyone wants (and will pay for)

I'm going to join an affiliate program, but which....

Do i go with azoogle or jamster??

I would prefer money from just getting a click then from a sale, even if its lower. (but money from both would be great)

Anyone reccomend the best one? azoogle seems to rate well, but like i say, pay per click would be better.

    Cheers.

i dunno of any ringtone affiliates that ppc besides ones run through adsense... and as the others stated in any catagory affiliate there is money to be made unless it is saturated.... if so them its not worth it... it also depends on your risk some people are willing to spend 1K to make 50 bucks others would onyl spend 1K to make 500 and so on so it also depends on your risk and the profit you want in return..

Also some time sit takes spending the big bucks to make big bucks as in previous campaigns not ringtones i tried getting in with low bids.. but these resulted in por conversion but with higher bids i got higher conversions so getting the cheapest click isn't always the best winner.

I read this on another post:

I thought "lead", just meant that the ringtone was clicked. So lead means sale? :(

Anyway, i wont be investing in adwords to get more vistitors to my site. Even 1 or 2 sales would be fine. Im not trying to make mega bucks quick. Your right about there being many risks spending to make with adwords.

    Thanks for the advice xboxundone.

And do ringtone affiliates intergrate into your site?

Say i signup at azoogle, do they give me the code/guide on how to intergrate some sort of ringtone catoluge on my site, and then a popup box back to their site to pay. Or is it just like a banner about the ringtones back to their site?

I like what zedge have, they have a premimum ringtones section, where you can see all the ringtones, then it looks like the ringtones are actually sold through mediaplazza

Cheers xboxundone you've been very helpfull.

in my opinion ringtone affiliate sucks if you run PPC.. i couldnt get the profit out of it.... people mostly look up for FREE stuff which is sometimes impossible... try making your websites SE friendly and then you can expect somthing good out of it... all the best..

Obiviously many other people out there have a different opinion and can prove it with the checks... part fo the deal with PPC campaigns is having the right text and targeting the right audience... I am not in the ringtone game but know people that are and PPC works for them.

If I make any headway on getting a ringtone landing page + PPC ads going, I'll post back my results here for ya'll.

I'm also willing to share a Ringtone PPC landing page HTML (that you can just swap in with your own Affiliate codes), since apparently 90% of the industry uses the same kind of landing page. (source: shoemoney.com again)

If you want to make quick bucks with ringtones just setup a crummy landing page (you don't even need to design it, just ripp it off someone else) and sell it over at ebay, you might be able to scam someone out of $10k!!

    Right, tdnetworks?? :D

    Just a thought....

I tried and failed. Ringtones are not as popular as they used to be plus fierce competition.

You need to be an adwords GURU to make money with these.
