I see almost 50% of my visitors using a browser other than IE - it's been on it's way out. I'm tired of all the security flaws and what not that give hackers the ability to phish personal information.

    Death to IE

Maybe this is a ploy to try to merge with Firefox. Just think about it

IE and all its security patches....It is time microsoft completely revamped IE and did good research to incorporate basic requirements of its users.....

I have never looked back at using IE ever since FF came my way...

No. While this issue has been patched, there are 72 other vulnerabilities, many which haven't been patched for years and Microsoft has not said if they ever will patch them.

Stick to FireFox, it will save you a headache. Way too many security flaws on IE and non-tech savvy users can pick up viruses easily.

This whole thread is an example of that. There are two "herds" here, one anti Microsoft, and the other anti open source or pro Microsoft. Nobody has proven anything in regards to which is least secure or better over all. All I see are links that point to sources either trying to make a news story or articles written by one within their own "herd" bashing the other product.

What it comes down to is people who want IE to go away are idiots and don't understand the value of competition. I guarantee both IE and FF as well as all other browsers out there benefit from innovations each other come up with to push each other to constantly adapt and refine. If there's one you don't like, don't use it. I realize you're not "cool" unless you're bashing a product but get over it. How many people who talk about security problems here with either browser actually studied and hacked it themselves to verify which one has the most problems? How many actually HAD a security problem with that browser? Very few and likely NONE in this thread, they're spitting back out something they read from a biased source or source trying to just make news, not write a complete study on it.

I don't know which is more amazing, that people still use IE or that people still "log onto the internet" by using AOL. :D

My sister came over yesterday with the RapidVirus bug on her machine. After eradicating the virus, I deleted IE from her desktop (she's not even computer literate enough to find and launch it from the Start menu...) and installed Firefox. It wasn't until I set Firefox to default to her original splash page that she agreed everything was okay.

As long as Windows comes installed with IE as the main browser, people will never learn. It would be interesting to learn what percentage of machine owners would be deemed as computer savvy or literate as compared to people who know what the words 'security hole' mean.

If not because IE comes pre-installed into Windows OS, I think it would have been long gone by now.

I only use FF and Safari these days, seem to be more secure.
