Be warned fellow DP users if you are using IE (Internet Explorer) you might like to consider an alternative as it has been hacked by Chinese hackers who are stealing bank details!

Full story on the Daily Mail website

My question is does this sound the death toll for Internet Explorer?

If their hack lasts as long as the camera I bought yesterday made in China and is already £$$%%$ then we have nothing to worry about.

Every version of Internet Exploiter (see what I did there?) has been vulnerable and has been used maliciously by hackers, and yet it persists. Why? Because Microsoft are a very big, very rich, and very aggressive company. They don't play by the rules and as such they still make more money from Operating Systems than any other company in the world.

Firefox has become extremely popular in recent years because of their extensive advertising campaigns, but by far the best, most secure and extremely robust browser I know of is Opera which has been around for a lot longer and migrates well to other systems (i.e. mobiles).

Microsoft will continue to release terrible software and put its users in danger, but people will continue to use them because security is often a secondary business concern.

Its another hole in IE but it won't be the end of it. All browsers have holes that are found from time to time, and even though IE has more reported holes than most this may simply be due to the number of attacks made against it as hackers do not attack FF as much as a) it has smaller market share b) people who use FF tend to use firewalls etc.

Strange thing about this is I know someone who knows someone who uses IE who just had money stolen from their Bank Account here in the UK and until I phoned that person earlier this evening to tell him about this he had not quite joined up the dots to the fact that this IE exploit was likely most probably the route used to do so.

So saying The Daily Mail report saying there are fears about accessing Bank Accounts looks likely to have already happened from the evidence presently at hand amongst those I know or those I know know (Hope that makes sense?).

This "Most serious security flaw in Microsofts history" as The Daily Mail put it is more than a little too real and alarming me thinks!

Internet Explorer is not the best browser, but if Firefox has been hacked also then what options do we have left ? mmm makes me wonder.

Some say "Opera" some other things, others are relishing "Google Chrome" coming out of beta - myself - I am still not 100% sure about any of them but would very much like to learn what others think as 2 million people potentially being already possibly open to having their bank accounts hacked followed by supposedly circa 70% of internet users does not bare thinking about if the reports about IE (Internet Explorer) are even any where near potentially accurate.

I haven't been using IE for a very long time. I prefer FF to it.

Yeah, Chinese products are famous for their long life...it's better spend more money and buy original products...sometimes it makes me angry: whatever you want to buy it says "Made in China"...and now they write "Made in PRC"... a new trick lol
