Tweak Zango Syndication Like This And Increase Installs/Revenue

For all that are interested, I will explain my method of tweaking the Zango Syndication program to dramatically increase install ratios and revenue.

This is the companion post to the one I made recently showing how to tweak the Zango Gateway to really increase your install ratio and revenue.

You must signup with Zango to make use of this program and technique. Go to their website either by Googling them or via the link in my signature below.

When you use the Zango syndication program you are placing a link on your website that points to content on one of the Zango servers. When a visitor clicks on the link to access the Zango content they are prompted to first download the Zango toolbar. It is explained that since the content is free, the visitor must download and install and test the complementary toolbar in order to access the content. When a visitor downloads and installs the toolbar the webmaster gets paid.

The Zango Syndication program is different than the Zango Gateway program in that with the gateway the webmaster is pretty much responsible for providing and hosting the content. With the Zango Syndication everything resides on the Zango servers .. all the webmaster needs to do is select which content that visitor can access (ie; games, movies, wallpapers, screensavers, etc.)

The folks at Zango have made it very easy to browse and select which content to display on your website. You can select/bundle one or more pieces of content at the same time. You can choose to have your website always show the same content, or rotate the content randomly. You also have some control over how you want the "teaser" to look on your website. You can alter the color, border, thumbnail image size, etc. When you are all finished ... and if you selected a delivery output of "javascript" on the very first page ... you are presented with the ready-made javascript code to place on your website. That's it ... DONE.

Most webmasters select the delivery output of "javascript" because it is so damn easy. Just place the provided code on your website and you're finished.

But changing the delivery output is one of the best ways to increase your installs and revenue in the Zango Syndicated program. Here's why:

The javascript delivery output constrains you to basically one layout. Like I stated before, you can change things like color, borders, image size, etc .. but the general look will be the same. Kinda boring. And since at the end you are given javascript code, there is nothing you can do to change the look.

But if you select the ZIP delivery output, at the very end instead of being given javascript code you are prompted to download the zip bundle. This zip bundle will include all off the pieces needed to create your own "teaser". You get the images, buttons, borders and MOST IMPORTANTLY the HTML code. Now you can attach the html code to anything you'd like on your website. You can make text links, custom buttons or custom graphics. The only downside is that you no longer have the javascript to simply add to your website. You will have to input the html code directly.

Lets look at an example. One of my websites made great money off of a piece of Zango content related to that goddess Scarlett Johansson. The content I was using was one where she was taking a shower. Now there was no nudity involved, but it was still pretty damn hot.

I first used the javascript delivery output method. I configured the teaser to look something like this. Now that's not bad, but it's very similar to all the other zango syndication teasers that many uf us have seen.

Then after awhile I tried the zip delivery method. Using Photoshop I created my own image and linked it to the zango html found in the bundle. This is what the new teaser looked like here. I also added some text below the image. Huge difference. When I replaced the other teaser with this my installs jumped instantly. Remember, all you have to do is link the image to the URL found in the zango zip bundle.

I have since retired this teaser and replaced it with a new Scartlett one. She's money in the bank. You can use this same technique to make text links too. Anything you can hyperlink. It takes a bit more time, but the results are worth it.

I have an entire website that contains nothing but zango content. I took the time to customize each piece via the zip bundle. I'm glad I did. Send some traffic from Adengage and you're good to go.

Wordpress users .... if you have a video blog, get the "sticky-posts" plugin, create a "Scarlett Johansson" type zango post, and make it "stick" to the top of your blog. Sit back and count the money. Reference Technorati to see what the hot searches are each week. Note the hot actress, then search the zango content for something of her. Make a new sticky post. It's all too easy.

Ok, one last thing ... where to find the html link in the bundle. One of the pieces in the zip bundle will be a file called test.html. If you call it you will see the default "teaser" displayed. To grab the html url link open up the file in a text editor, go to the bottom and look for the following:

Look at the line that shows "<tr class="ZC95499_SP_contentImg">". The zango url that you want to use as your link is directly underneath

Just create a hyperlink using this url (yours will be slightly different -- different number string) and you will be all set.

Well, I don't know how amazing these tips are, but I do think they will help most people.

If I had the time I'd put a site together detailing all the tricks and strategies that I use to increase my install ratios. Unfortunatly I do not have the time, so the 2 threads that I created will have to do.

Just so I'm clear, the gateway will work on ANY site correct? And you can customize what type of media requires zango gateway installs?

I have never seen nor heard of a website where the Zango Gateway did not work. That doesn't mean that they don't exist, but they must be rare. The Zango Gateway is driven by javascript, so as long as you can use javascript you should be ok. Of course if the visitor has javascript disabled then the gateway will not appear. But that's just the way things work.

Also, your Zango account manager has to approve your request for a gateway for your website. If you are trying to put a gateway on an illegal website (ie; selling narcotics, etc) then you will be denied.

Well thanks. I get so much from this forum that I'm just glad I can give back to the community.

I'm trying to find some time to make some additional zango posts on things I've done such as time-delaying, geo-targeting, and some others.

Amazing the revenue you can generate if you customize! Maybe if I can get the time, huh?

You mentioned 'When I replaced the other teaser with this my installs jumped instantly.' You mean the .exe program jumps instantly? Or the agreement thing.

And what about link cloaking? I mean if the visitors will hover over the image, it will show the ZangoCash.com link.
Cloaking will hide it, or is that not allowed?
