It seems like the more I look at General Chat it's full of threads I have no desire to post in. Is it just me or is there a new trend?
Yes and no. I'm half serious though. There's so many post just to pad post count. I mean sure it's general chat, but so many people are just starting threads to basically pad post count. There are a lot of people talking, but no one's really saying anything.
I'm so glad you made this thread as those stupid pointless threads do get quite annoying. I mean, come on people look up the words "General Chat" in the dictionary before you post there. I just wonder who in the heck would want a forum with hundreds if not thousand of new threads started each day and countless post to go with them. So just cut it out, we don't want to face a bandwidth shortage and have to resort to rationing, now do we?

General chat can be 2 things: interesting stuff, like "hey, check out this cool video/image/mp3" or something stupid like "lets make a story, everybody post a new word. I will start: Today I went to _________"
I'm serious. The quality of the threads and posts on DP have fallen to crap lately. I am actually trying to say something about it.
So you are trying to be serious? Kinda like the story about the boy who cried wolf. No offense, but when I go about reading one of your post I put my laughing hat on and when it's on I just can't stop laughing.
I would think that the general chat is to help foster a community and not every post has to bring about world peace. I come here to take a break once in a while. Is that okay? There are other places in the forum for a more serious discussion. Why can't we have both as long as we aren't killing shawn's bandwidth. Gee - don't agree and you get a bad rep ! Let me me start another stupid thread now!
Yeah I know it's kind of weird. That's how you can tell it's really gotten out of hand. I enjoy saying random things, but I like to do it in context of the situation. I like threads bout "what should I do with annoying neighbors" and stuff like that. It seems like most of those have died off though I didn't give you a red because you didn't agree with you. I gave you a red, because the thread was about how people post meaningless stuff a lot now and you did just what I was trying to rally against. I don't care if people agree or disagree with me. Yeah general chat is mostly about stuff that isn't serious, but I think there's only a limit to how many self promotion poll threads and post just to post threads people want to read.
Hey that's cool but my point was that this is the general chat area. And you don't have to read the other self promotion poll threads, etc if you don't want right?

Yeah you're correct I don't have to read them. Maybe I'm overreacting, but I just like threads that have some kind of substance whether it be debating, a funny news story, a personal story, advice, someone just blowing off some steam, or anything that has some point. It just seems like lately that DP has dropped when it comes to the thing that drew me to DP in the first place. I like it here and so many people have been so nice, helpful, and entertaining. Maybe I just like talking and like when other peopel talk. Who knows. For your last couple of posts I would have given you green. Like I said I gave you the red because I thought you were just posting to post, but I signed it because that's what I do on my red. I mean no animosity toward you.
