here is another offering free links and another i wont be submitting to http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=299501
Unfortunately the weakest ones are resorting to unethical practices ... The worst offender ... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=299790 Not only inflating bids artificially, but bidding on his own directories.
well im in enough bid directories and i only own or have 1 of these and doubt i get more to be honest... thx malcolm
ugh, I don't know how you know which are my directories. In fact, none of them are mine. I'm just giving a free offer?
You can give away links just mark them $0.00 so future bids are not skewed. I like the other guy ... bid $10 get an additional $10 in feature links. So if I give away a house with the first $200,000 bid, will I have the most expensive directory? Any takers ....
You don't pay nothing or bid... I manage their bid which is $1, so their links will appear on the directory. No one can bid $0 as it's not "bidding" then any more. It's like I pay $1 myself for submitters.
this is so sad, we should have a list of sites to avoid. They are abusing DP to get their sites promoted and trying to get bids uppened with fake bids. Sad what this forum have come to ...
I see you going down in flames..... change your way of thinking otherwise you could end up being like the guy who deletes links...... I dont even have to mention his name and everyone knows whom i speak off.... good luck malcolm
So you move that $1 back from the right pocket to the left? If the script does not handle free listings then don't do it ... or get a mod that does handle it. People will buy links from directories that are worth supporting. If you can't sell a link for $1 then you need to work on promotion --- not sales.
well, it's not like I CAN NOT sell a link for $1 But I thought I would give away links to see if people would like the offer. I am going to promote this one just like few others I own. Link bidding has a unique concept. It's basically the submitter decide how much worth to bid. Mine is new and PR0. Usually new directories offer low price or give away free stuff, and I think you all know that Also, I won't delete links, especially DP members' I have given away free links before and those who got them are getting free PR3 backlinks now. Ok, enough of defending myself as I don't like to do it. But maybe I am not understanding the opposition to my idea so you guys can let me know what's wrong or how I could improve? Thanks.
You can start by reviewing Rulz of Conduct then have a little faith in the concept. There are other PR0 bid directories that are working hard to promote their sites and getting bids. Let the market decide if you are doing a good job!
Thanks. I have actually read that already. The only possible negative response to my free offer could be that when I make my directory paid, one will have to pay $4 to grab the #1 position because the current #1 spot has $3 bid, which is added $1 from me, the original highest bid to be $2. But I won't make it paid while its PR is 0 So, people should realize their investments are not going to be wasted when my directory has PR. Say, if the directory gets PR3, I am sure no one feels tricked to pay $4 to get the first position on PR3 home page. Any feedback would be appreciated. I may be blind, but I don't see anything negative unless I delete submitted links like malcolm said, which will never happen though. Here is the bottom line. I simply wanted a free offer since it's new, just like another brand new directory. I got phplb long ago before the first guy announced here But I wanted to modify some, so I waited. Eventually, bunch of them poped out, feeling I didn't want to be "one of them"; thus this free offer is my "unique" idea. If many don't like it, I will simply refund money and close the case. I have no problem with that. No one gets hurt, only my time is wasted, which is ok as long as I don't cause a problem. Fair enough?
Fair enough ... the goal is to promote directories that are administered fairly. The only thing that should decide a links value is market forces. The published price should only reflect the value of the link ... not bundled in with freebies, coupons, and give-aways. It is way too easy to artificially inflate prices ... until they become meaningless. A lot of people are working hard to promote the concept ... don't undermine their work!
I recieved an email and asked How he got my email to send me the first notice ( an invitation) that he did not that letter (link exchange) ... he didnt reply back.. He has 2 bid directories that i know off and came out of know where. thx malcolm
