    hi guys...

I installed word press on my domain. But now I want to make it website and not a word press blog.

I have removed the word press from the cpanel. But in the ftp, wp-admin, wp-content and wp-include folders are still available.

Can anyone tell me how to remove these folders from the FTP?

I also tried these to del from cpanel but never succeeded.

    Looking for help.

    Thanks

Change the file permissions of the folders.
The default folder permissions of those three folders are 0755.
You need to change them to 0644.

Login to your Cpanel -> File Manager - > File Perms (from the folder list)

how about, right click on each folder and hit delete for each?
Actually, folder permission wont interfere folder/file deletion (both from cpanel's File Manager nor FTP) if you have enough privilege to do so, eg: the admin.
Do you have the required privilege? Are you logging in as admin?

If you have admin privilege, try these:

The Cpanel way - File Manager (NOT the Legacy File Manager)

    1. Logging in to your cPanel.
    2. Go to your File Manager.
    3. Go to you public_html directory or www directory
    4. If your blog installed in the root, you should see the folders you need to delete.
    5. Tick (check) the checkbox beside the folder name/s you want to delete.
    6. By the time you're done ticking (checking) the checkbox, the delete button (with a big red X icon) will be active.
    7. Hit the delete button. You're done.

    The FTP way.

    1. Logging in to your root as admin
    2. By default you should directly went to public_html directory
    3. You'll see lists of folders.
    4. Right click on the folder you need to delete - Hit the Delete link.
    5. A small window will popup as by default all deletion command need your confirmation (to avoid accidental deletion).
    6. Hit yes if you wanna proceed to delete the folder.
    You're done.

If, those above fails, there's only one thing for sure left, you don't have (enough) privilege to do this deletion task. Ask your hosting provider.

Despite doing all that, those folders will not get deleted.
If you don't know about it, then don't make conclusions like seeking hosting provider support etc.

It's strange that you don't know about 'chmod' functions!

The easiest way of removing those three folders is changing the file permissions of the folders to 0644 from 0755.

whoa, slow down seocontentwriter. I guess we're dealing with a not-too-savvy buddy here. Of course I know what a chmod is, UI based or console based, ssh, or ftp or cpanel.
We're trying to help unna to delete folders. As far as I know, (I was testing it with my own Cpanel and ftp while writing the above) file/folder permissions don't interfere folder/file deletion.
It doesnt matter if the folder/file permission is 755 or 644, we can always delete it with those steps above - if we have enough privilege.

Are you sure, you''re not missing something? Chmoding the folders to 0644 from 0755, would simply changed their permissions, not deleting them. Right?

If you can't delete them using the delete button on your keyboard, contact your host.

Changing permissions on folders does not apply here. If you can change permission on folders then you should be able to delete folders.

Could be that your group permission on the server are messed up, ask your host to check them for you.

This issue arises when people use 'Fantastico De Luxe' to install the Wordpress.
The solution is same as said by the other guy "seocontentwriter".

Are you sure you want to move aay from wordpress ? You can also use wordpress to build a static content site as well - i moved from Joomla to Wordpress years ago and find it very powerful for blogging as well as static content and in fact any type of site, including communities etc.

Wordpress is much faster than most CMS system to get going and is very configurable and extendible.

Now we get a clearer atmosphere here. So what's been hit unna was:

Unna installed wordpress from Fantastico, and removed them from fantastico. BUT, these 3 folders were not deleted.

So, if we, "rewind" the whole removal process - and suggesting Unna to "redo" the removal from fantastico, the steps would be :
    1. changing the file permissions of the folders to 0644 from 0755. (as seocontentwriter said)
    2. And do the removal. That'll do it (i suppose - as Buy Websites Online suggest).

But if we're not moving in backwards and suggesting Unna what to do, "after the un-successful removal" from fantastico,
(as I still can read his exact request "Can anyone tell me how to remove these folders from the FTP?" - which i strongly assume, he asked what he need to do "after" the un-successful "removal" how to "delete" the folders - the FTP way),
I suppose the steps would be as I pointed above.

Not sure if Unna ever read this discussion, but hope those contributions above help him a bit.
