Transition Away From iTrader...

Just FYI, at some point iTrader is going to be completely uninstalled from this site. We have outgrown it.

It's going to be replaced with a new rating system that is based on the Instant Payment system we have in place. Essentially you will be able to still rate people, but only when the system knows an actual transaction took place (i.e. the seller would need to be using the instant pay ability if they want to receive any sort of rating). Essentially you can't give or get a rating if no actual money changed hands (no ratings for free stuff, reviews, fake ratings, etc.)

The system isn't completely done yet, but this is more to let you know what's going to happen down the road so there are no surprises. If you want to start building up your rating now, I would advise using the instant pay function.

There is no time frame... just when the new system is ready.

Might leave the final iTrader rating value as a legacy number to reference for awhile... but no one would be able to leave new iTraders. And at some point that would be removed too. The problem with iTrader is there's just no way to know which ratings are real and which are not.

As I said previously, if you want to start accumulating a good rating under the new system even before it's in place, just use the instant pay stuff we already have.

It's a good idea though but I request that if we can't add the itrades to each other just leave the numbers for reference, many members who have lot of negative itrades can be harmful for others.

Question though, what about people who post [WTB] threads... How will they leave feedback with this new system that's being implemented?

So the iTrader system will be massively effected by this, feedback won't be able to be left for WTB threads?

Not unless we figure out a way to actually truly know when someone was paid with a WTB like the instant pay.

    Hi Shawn,

This sounds like a great hack. I'm looking forward to it. Though, can you leave the itrader points as a permanent count to our user profiles just to use for reference in the future? :)

Okay, I guess our services/sales will be sold at the same price at all times using the instant payment. So, how about creating "invoices" feature so we can send invoices to other people with different prices. Right now, I do services that price varies on difficulty and amount of keywords, etc ... so putting $300 as instant payment would not be efficient for me. In invoices, we could put link to thread and amount we charge. Then people could pay using the invoice, etc ...

Then they aren't going to have much of a rating.

What about article writers, forum posters and other small service providers? What about people making WTB threads? And isn't the instant pay rating only for buyers?

That's great option for trading specially in Content section but when it comes to Service & other section it will rise some issues, like sometime buyer often give discounts so Instant Pay might not be better option to make payment if buyer agree to give discount! As stated by others WTB threads and service provider also can't use Rating system anymore.

One positive things is we can easily find details about buyers with new Rating system.:)
