Recently paid for the coding of 2 PSD's through digitalpoint via paypal with the user "Montel"

2 Problems with this user -

    1) He hasn't delivered the coded PSD files
    2) Does't respond to any form of communication - HUNG UP the phone on me when I tried calling the phone number posted on his website!

I have already filed a claim through paypal. What is digitalpoints stance on fraudulent members? Where else can I go to get this resolved...?

    Thanks,
    Calven

While he has participated in some normal transactions he does have a few fraudulent ones as well, one including mine. The other here:

Prepaid for the coding of 2 PSD's and didnt receive goods and didnt receive refund!

The seller hangs up the phone on me when I try to talk to him at this number: 301-204-9569

He doesn't respond to email, MSN, AOL or yahoo messages. He also runs a website: http://www.pos tmanmedia.com/

Stole the original website design - evidence here: http://www.low opacity.net/showthread.php?t=6716

The user also has a paypal account with ficticious information. His name is "Jaykeer Breeze" (spelling) while his paypal account has a title of "Cheryl Queen" on the account...his WHOIS records do not match either

DP's policy as stated in the FAQ:

we do not resolve disputes between members.

It is each member's responsibility to use due diligence in all transactions.

Did you pay with paypal? You can charge back. Actually if he has fraudulent info on paypal should be a open and shut case.

You can also file criminal charges and interstate federal charges as well as civil charges. Depending on area and amount they will care.

Its totally your responsibility to find out who your dealing with. My best advice is learn from this experience and write it off as a education.

right... well good luck. Kind of weird you come into a thread made on that site originally reporting this on April 10 2006. But whatever.

i think this thread was created also with the mind of warning other dp members

I too have had a bad experience with montel, though i lost no money and accuse him of nothing, i will explain my experience however and let others judge.

I wanted the work done in the following thread:
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=178897

I messaged him about it, and he agreed to do everything for $20, I told him that was fine and he said he would get to work on it. He pmed me a day or two later saying he was done the work, and gave me his paypal address for the $20 payment. I said i wanted to make sure the site worked before sending payment, then he told me he was uploading, but i never heard form him again, on msn or through dp.

    seems suspicious

    Believed Real Name: Montel Branch

My analysis: I believe user MONTEL is a scam artist or "3rd party worker" at best. I believe montel bids on items or services then bids them back out to other people pocketing the difference in money AND ALSO TRYS TO SCAM ONE OR BOTH ENDS OF THIS TRANSACTION!

Recently contacted his website host and domain registrar - looks like they took the site down temporarily pending review. I presented a case to them and hopefull they see it my way. This guy has to go - too many scam artists preying upon us. Too much money being ripped. I will not stop until this situation is resolved!

It is always sensible to pay after you get things… I know that prepayments usually result in such problems…

Sorry but if your were a pro I don't think it would have happened to you.

If you are ripped off this is what you do: (btw shoemoney had good tips back at the top. ) If it is paypal you paid with contact them and ask for your money back. They will want the information so give them the URL to the thread prove that you made up your part. Usually they give the other party 24-36 hours and if they don't respond to your claim you get your money back .

If you created a image or template for the person and they ripped you off then contact their host(if they are using the image on it) and provide the original PSD file and other info related to the deal. Depending on the host what they will do about it.

If you got good iTraders for paying and providing services(both). - I am talking about real deals not free stuff. - Then provide only a snapshot with watermark to the other party(especially if they don't have iTrader. If they have alot this is not necessary) and then when payment arrives send the PSD.

Don't let yourself get ripped off. If it sounds to good to be true find a member who seems unbiased but knowledgeable about that subject and get a second opinion on the deal.

Sir the last post was reporting another member getting ripped off - the quoted paragraph was another members words not mine.

I am just using this thread to compile evidence against Montel Branch and to warn people NOT to do business with him...

Why dont you take legal action against him? It will save you much time. Send him a threaty type of letter or email and then file a police report. It only cost $5 over the phone and free in office :D OR get a lawyer and get this taken care of
