Please do not promote ZangoCash. Go look up some phrases in google like

    "zangocash spyware"
    "zangocash adware"
    "zango ftc fine"
    "zango stealing"

etc etc etc. If you are a webmaster promoting them you are screwing yourself for a few pennies per install.

not all adware causes webmasters to lose money. it's true that some does, but it's certainly not all.

not many people understands that, but it is actually true. There were a lot of bad things from adware companies but not all of them are the same...

It's cruel way to make money. The people that make you that money are generally uninformed and end up settling for worse computer performance or maintenance bills because of your actions.

Some of you are just naive, some of you don't get it and some of you are just plain STUPID! I am so tired of affiliates hurting themselves and our entire industry!

Read this whole thread that follows to find out all the reasons promoting this or any other download program that installs adware or spyware is not only WRONG, but can hurt your own pocketbook and our industry in the process.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=46548
Thread includes all the reasons and even info from the leading spyware researcher who is also an affiliate advocate.

Today I just blogged about affiliates getting BUSTED by the FTC for distribuing spyware and adware - having their sites shut down - having all their assets frozen. (Now if it's you that gets busyted you are in trouble. If just the merchant gets busted and has assets frozen THEY CAN'T PAY YOU!)

FTC Shuts Down Affiliate Site for Distributing Spyware
    http://affiliate-blogs.5staraffiliateprograms.com/2006/11/20/ftc-shuts-down-affiliate-spyware/

PLUS READ THE 2nd Part about Zang0!

They just settled with the FTC for 3 MILLION DOLLARS. They would not settle if they did nothing wrong.

This company is in the FTC's radar big time.
You want to get caught in the cross fire???

Read the press release in the blog above that states, Zang0 is still
NOT in compliance and read what it has to say about their affiliates!

Read the 30k Challenge blog in the post above this one for more too.

Affiliates ARE getting busted. Merchants are getting fined and/or having their assets frozen.
Some of them will not be able to pay you your commission.

If you can't relate to them stealing commission from you in other programs...

If you can't relate to the ways in which they help spread the need for anti-spyware software which BLOCKS and/or deletes everyone's affiliate ads and/or or cookies from other affiliates programs and hurts the entire industry...

If you don't care how much you piss off your users and how wrong that is...

Then maybe you will wake up if you learn you can be held accountable, possibly get your site shut down and/or fined.

Anyone that still defends this and still says "I don't care as long as I make a dime" is just plain crooked AND stupid!

I agree with you that it may be better to be cautious, and I do realize it does hurt affiliates quite often-- but zangocash is not nearly as bad as a lot of other programs that do direct cookie stuffing and realtime page modification of affiliate links and hijacking of SERPs, etc.

popups rob affiliates of money too, if you want to get technical-- they can overwrite a "legitimate" cookie, which means the legit site just lost their commissions. it's all a matter of degrees.

nothing is absolute; what one webmaster considers ethical another may not.

I do however believe that affiliates should be informed of the potential risks of using such a program and the fact that such programs may be hurting themselves and other webmasters.

as a side note, plenty of people and / or companies settle a lawsuit when they've done nothing wrong... if you're innocent but you think the odds may not be in your favor or you don't want to risk it, it's quite common to settle. plenty of people sued by the RIAA did nothing wrong, yet settled because if they would have lost they could have faced much stiffer penalties.

they do not give you viruses.

"spyware" and "adware" are not synonymous with "evil evil software." the alexa toolbar is spyware. as is the google toolbar. as is windows itself, actually.

opera was adware. ad-supported-software. if you want to get technical, google itself is adware-- it's software delivered on a web platform that's supported by ads. all of these things lie on a continuum.

zango isn't something I'd want on my PC, but it isn't nearly as bad as a lot of other things out there.
