Hi, Just wanted to know if anyone here had experience with this "Is nofollow edu links any good?" Well some say nofollow is a waste..still site explorer lists it isnt it? "Edu is edu,its always better" that's what i heared is it true?
They're as good but no better than a nofollowed .org, .com, .net, .biz, .info, ad infinitim. As Nigel said, their is nothing "special" about the way the search engines rank .edu or .gov domains. They don't get preference merely because of their TLD extension.
I was always under the impression that websites with .edu had more weight than a .com. Boy, was I wrong.
Links recommended by Govt. agencies or educational institutes may have better impact on SEO because it seems more natural as you do not buy these or something like to include it.
because it's hard to find a backlink from those domains, that's why people think it has more weight than other gtlds.
Thats a nice piece of information..i always thought that Edu and govs are better..anyways..on the other context..is a nofollow link good in any way?
There has been a lot of debate on the topic, but Google has never formally said that they don't have any additional linkjuice. I still believe that .edu and .gov backlinks carry more power based on the authority of the TLDs by default.
Sure they have, there is actually a vid about it posted recently. I will dig it up for you. Edit: Actually, there is a post 2 above your's with the info, here is the vid http://video.google.com/videoplay?d...=ZQHYSsf3EojUqQKxiuzfBQ&q=matt+cutts+edu+link Nigel
I think not, It doesn't have good link juice cause it didn't follow by bots similar to other regular links.
I see two different questions get asked here on the forum and the answers get confused. Is .edu (as an extension) more authoritative than other sites? and Are edu backlinks more powerful than backlinks from other sites? There is some truth in the debate of whether edu links hold more weight than others. The following has be proven mostly true: .edu as an extension is not inherently more powerful than others .edu sites are typically more authoritative than others (because .edu's are typically more linked to and less linked out from) So when it comes down to it, in more cases than not I would rather have a backlink from Harvard University than a typical .com (regardless of the no-follow or not)
I would like point out one of my post on related with NOFOLLOW tag http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1553611
