    Hello,

I want to focus some of the important facts.

My website: http://www.seoofindia.com has some links

After chekiing in yahoo by typing "link: seoofindia.com"

I am getting lots of links, some of the blog commenting links too,

    eg. : 1) http://www.whydowork.com/blog/blogging-tips/558/

    2) http://www.seo-writer.com/blog/2008/05/10/dofollow-blogs/

The above two commenting links are "NO FOLLOW", So my question is if it really nofollow then how this two links indexed, as well as I noticed that after getting few other nofollow links I getting SERPs improvement too.

So my question is nofollow links really works or not??

    Thanks,
    Racheldcooley

In general, google only give more importance to the link, whether it is nofollow or dofollow but yahoo not. Even though the link is nofollow , they can provide you better traffic. so do built quality link and dont worry about link type.

no follow link only create traffic, not raise to keyword ranking.

Just because they are showing a link that is nofollow, does not mean that it is being counted in the ranking algorithm or not.

    Well, I agree with Agent000

But right now I am getting good position too (ranking improvement) by these types of NOFOLLOW links only, Actually I wanted to see the result only through making NOFOLLOW commenting links.

If it really helps then I think no one will interested to make their site with nofollow attribute. I need some experimental result any body made through this.

i don't think so that link is counted as your backlinks.
No Follow links will not help us in SERPs.

Nofollow links consider as backlinks but they not helps to improve Google PR & keyword position in serp. You can find nofollow backlinks also in Google webmaster tools & in Yahoo backlinks.

Yes, because no follow tag is created by Google, and only Google spider read and understand it.

No-follow algorithm was introduced by Google only - it was considered as normal backlink by Yahoo and Bing..

In Google also, No-follow link was not completely ignored by GoogleBot; So it always better to forget about No-follow and start doing link-building for your site..!

Read this - "Nofollow as a link attribute causes Google to drop those links out of our link graph. If you have a nofollow link from page A to page B, we won't crawl via page A's link to discover page B. Note that we may still find page B via other links around the web, though. " - Matt Cutts

I am not said that, nofollow links are useless. Nofollow links are also useful & consider as backlinks. But, the thing search engines not consider them when giving PR & serp.

Nofollow links are also crawls by search engines. But, they don't pass PR. Nofollow introduced to avoid link spamming.

Just because nofollow links are showing in the output of the link: operator at any engine does NOT mean they help your ranking, does NOT mean they are counted as a valid backlink, does NOT mean they pass any sort of link "juice". It just means that they engine knows there is a link from URL A to URL B. Not that it's actually used.

Nofollow links do not help you rank at Google. Google shows them in the sample of links shown in WMT and the link: operator output... But they also show backlinks from pages known to be under penalty... neither of these are counted as backlinks... neither passes page rank... neither helps your pages rank for particular keyword phrases.

Google doesn't WANT you to know which backlinks are counted and which are not. That's why they show only a "sample" of backlinks in WMT and link: output... that's also why they throw in some links they know about but that do NOT count as backlinks like nofollow links and links from pages under penalty.

Yahoo!... well who cares... honestly... The morons at Yahoo! are still using the <meta name="keywords"> element as Danny Sullivan proved a couple of weeks ago after Yahoo! stated at SMX that they did not. It wouldn't surprise me if they did count nofollow links. It's been rumored for some time. But hey... Look who's giving up on search. There is a reason that only 18% or so of all Internet searches are performed at Yahoo!

Yahoo! is on it's last leg... It's pretty much down to Bing and Google now, and Bing is not fairing well. Microsoft is having to spend hundreds of millions on advertising Bing and still their marketshare is already starting to drop.

If you want to include nofollow blog commenting as a link buiding methodology, have at it... It's probably the lowest quality link building strategy in use today. And if it provides ANY boost to rankings, it is going to be at the lesser known, lesser important engines... not Google. Personally, I would ONLY count on it as a traffic building strategy and then ONLY if you're commenting strictly on other blogs within your niche.
