$100 Weekend Design Contest 1 (uncoded webpage)

Hello DPers!

This design is for a store that will sell about 10 items and have a blog. Make a beautiful design similar to the look and feel of velo-orange.com. The font on velo-orange is what is most important. Copy that if you can. I plan on announcing the winner before Monday and winner will be paid via PayPal.


Extra info:
Color-scheme: Stick to orange unless you know what you're doing
Logo: There is no logo for the site.
Name: I am unsure of name as of right now. Make up a cool name or just put in "E-commerce Website".

Please refrain from putting your own company's name on the designs as I am showing it to a client.

I have run many similar contests in the past and have always given feedback to every entry and have always paid the winner. I will do the same here.

Please post all entries here so that everyone can see the feedback.

EDIT: Winner will be expected to send PSD file(s) not JPG and not Illustrator. Thanks and good luck!

Here is our design with the changes you asked for. Our name is taken out of the footer. We are the best at what we do so tell us what other changes you want us to do and will have it done at top level.

awd: I like your design and the use of font, but it almost looks as your design is mainly to be used for a blog. This design is main to be an e-commerce website (though it will also have a blog). I also really liked how you stayed true to velo-orange.com. It worked for you. I don't like the orange background on the left menu items though. Also, if you put in any image into your design, I think it would look better. Even if you get an image as badmasketa did from istockphoto, just as a placeholder, it does not leave a big gray spot in your design. Just trying to help.

badmasketa: I really like what you have done with this design. You have some talent. The font is great, the menu is great as it leaves room for the blog and other features, and I like how you have the products laid out. So far you are in the lead.

 

am sure to throw an entry with this contest...

awd: I very much like your new design. The client login area is nice, but it is not really needed. I am actually unsure of the product that will be sold on the website, so I can get back to you, but just the images you have added makes the design look more interesting. I also really like the featured products section you have and the way you list the products. Very nice. So far it is between awd's latest design and RT's design I mentioned above.

d-sign: Thank you d-sign for putting your design up here. I like the design, but do not like the orange wooden background all that much. I like your menu and I like the 'open' sign. I am unsure of what to think of the lamp posts and the dark background in the header, but they may work nicely with another background for the menu and products.

"Do you need coding or just a PSD file?"
To win this contest you only need to provide me with the PSD file. If you can, however, code the design into valid HTML/CSS that works on Firefox and IE, I will give you an extra $20.

Thanks for the feedback oneawsomeguy.I've made a version without the client area so you can see how it looks.I also a vertical text"Menu"on the orange menu shape.Another thing i added is a little "Customers" text area which shows the number of satisfied customers since the website has been launched.The purpose of this little text area is to increase the customers trust in the website.One last thing i added was a "Payment methods" text and icons showing the accepted payment options of the website.

Okay. The weekend is almost over. Entries will be accepted until 2pm today (Monday) Eastern Time. At the time of this posting it is approximately 4:45am Eastern Time so you have just over 9 hours. I will go by the official post marks on DP.

After the contest closes. I will evaluate all the options, give feedback to all the entries I had previously not given feedback to, and announce a winner. People who have previously submitted an entry will be allowed to make slight modifications to that entry during this time.
