After much thought, I have decided to sell my website blogkindle.com

As you can tell from the URL, the website is a blog dedicated to news about the Amazon Kindle. The Kindle is Amazons new e-book reader, which was released last November. The Kindle retails for $359.99. Through Amazons affiliate program, a 10% cut is paid for every Kindle device, Kindle book and Kindle accessory that is sold through the website.

Reason for selling

I think its important to say why I'm selling, simply put, I don't have time to update the website any more. I have recently graduated and will be starting a full-time career next month which will leave me with no time at all, therefore the website must go!

Income

During the month of August 08, the website brought in $312.72 in referral income from Amazon's affiliate program, the previous month of July brought in $88.89, this shows just how much potential the site has to grow, in one month the income grew 350%! if the new owner can maintain the momentum, this website can easily earn $1000+ per month.

Therefore I am looking to sell at around 10-15x revenue. The BIN is set at $8000.

$7.12 was earned through Adsense during the month of August 08, and $26.04 total since December 07. Adsense does not feature prominently on the website, some months it has been there, some months it hasn't.

July was where I put the hammer down an really started to commit to publishing one article a day, the fruits of this effort are realised in August where there was an explosion in traffic and income. As long as the new owner commits to one new post a day, I am very confident that revenue and traffic will continue to grow.

7600 unique visitors came to the website in August, generating an income of $320, this gives the site an eCPM of $42.10.

In the previous month of July, 4500 unique visitors came to the site and generated an income of $88.89, which is an eCPM of $19.75.

In June there were 2400 unique visitors which generated an income of 80.62, an eCPM of $33.59

These are very high eCPM rates, so as long as you can get the traffic, there will be revenue, and traffic is growing month on month!

RSS Readers

RSS readers are growing at about the same rate as website traffic is growing, there are new RSS subscribers every day. As of yet the RSS feed is un-monetised, so there is a opportunity for additional revenue if the winner decides to monetise the RSS feed.

Traffic

Traffic has been growing steadily over the last 6 month, the explosion in income and traffic for the month of August can be explained by a effort to publish one post a day.

85% of traffic is organic traffic from search engines and direct input.

The remaining 15% of traffic is from referring sites, most of the referred traffic comes from Google Reader and StumbleUpon.

Site updates and maintenance

I usually update the website once a day, and it usually takes about 30-mins to 1-hour to write an article and do the site maintenance for the day. I have a source of about 30+ rss feeds which I use to hunt for new stories. I will provide these rss feeds to the winner of this auction.

The site is hosted on wordpress and uses a number of plug-ins. Last month the site consumed 5.6 Gb of bandwidth and uses 28.04 MB of disk-space.

I am sad to let this website go because it has huge potential, however circumstances make it difficult for me to continue operating the site, so happy bidding, and I will try to answer any question you may have.
