I think probably you are referring to MentaLRZ's case. There have been several theories on the still unknown banning reason, such as images too close to ads without a separation space and border, or ads iframed from a different source changing the keyword targetting, or -according to MentaLRZ- the recent attacks against the site before receiving the standard "invalid clicks" email, which Google sends in most cases.

It depends on conversions. You need that the users read the ads, but without being confused. Therefore I think, as I explained already, that publishers can preserve conversions for advertisers, and therefore earnings, by following Google's guideline (see for example JenSense) of enough differentiation between ads and images.

    Okay...

I also found out that if the click is from other country (which is not the same ones on your Google Adsense registration) the CTR and earning is quite high enough. But when the click come from the same country as you are, the earning is small.

Is there any corellation on this matter?

    Thanks in advance...

No, I dont think they pay based on your location, it is totall based on the advertiser's who bid for the keyword, if they bid lower you get low payout and if they bid more you get heigher payouts..

I just tried this on my website, http://www.cursors-4u.com. I added a favorite cursor of the month, right next to the google advertisement and notice a 75%-100% increase in CTR. But that wasn't the only thing I did. I changed the ad background color, to blend it in. I have a high pageview to unique user. If I did some simple math, base on a unique user CTR, I'm actually getting a 10% CTR.

At least it adds some nice color to the page!

Even if the pictures are not related, I bet it still helps with CTR.

Although, I don't think those pics would help in terms of creating a "professional" atmosphere and may hurt their customer base and returning visitors numbers.

I just used this example on one of my sites.. Dude it is so freaking amazing. I'm now in the low 30% +- on my CTR. Image's help so much its amazing. I think its a psychological thing, people click on the ads thinkin they are related to the image or something. Don't know if that is it, but it sure as heck works! :D

In wordpress how do you add adsense ads after for e.g. line 5?

I suppose some kind of loop is used such as For or While loop.

Any generous person will post code?

    Thanks

That would be against TOS. It is more that they see the images, then read the ad under the image to see what the image is about. Only then if they like the sound of the ad do they click it.

My first example that you quoted does not allow any gap between the images and the ads, you MUST put a gap or a line between the image and the ads or have a VISIBLE border on the ads.

    Cheers

Wow, I am imagining that AdSense Support must be manned by goodness knows how many people, if they were to deal with us e-mailing them for permission to use our own customised designs each time!

Anyway, to re-iterate what Critters has posted before, do up your creation, save it on your server in a secret location, then email the address to to get it vetted.

(Just thought I'll help out Critters, who seemed to be repeating this for the umpteenth time!)

42 pages of wholesome goodness! Where else can you find a long-running thread that does not degenerate into a trolled-flame war? This is where I'll hang out often!

    Time for an update....

Now the 4 images above the 720 banner is doing good things in terms of boosting members CTR's but there are a few problems (in order of importance):

1/ Runs the risk of misleading users who think clicking the text takes them to the image.
2/ Takes up to twice as much space as just the banner ad on its own. And this is something that drives the designer part of me nuts.
3/ When you are showing 4 images and the ad unit is showing 1, 2, 3 ads you look stupid and your site look messy.

I have come up with a solution to the above 3 problems.... Many little images:

    Before:

    After:

Solves problem 1 in that there is no way the user will think that any image is linked to the text, but the images still attract the eye to the ads.

Solves problem 3 in that it does not matter how many ads are been served up, it will look just as good with 1, 2, 3 ads. In fact, in this case I made the ad unit blend less as the black bar at the bottom balances the images above the ad quite well.

And solves problem 2 in that the space it takes up is much reduced over the original. Here is the change in space taken up, and percentage of the page for 1 instance / 2 instances:

The percentages depend on the size of your page, so the numbers given are for the top half of my home page.

    Causes a drop in CTR?
After running this new image/ad format for 2 weeks I can report that there is very little change in CTR (+-0.1%) In some cases the CTR on your site may fall, but I think it worth it for the saving in space and the other points I have made above.
