Can any one figure how much is that? That is 8000000000000000000% What can you say!! Robert Mugabe screwed up the whole country beyond repair This is from the article in New York Times
Huh? Inflation is measured over a single year... And 231,000,000 and 8,000,000,000,000,000,000 are VERY different.
It seemed that any citizens of Zimbabwe are richer than Warren Buffett. I read how Zimbabwe officials try to blame the cholera epidemic on UK, that's really a joke. Wonder are they really so heartless to let their own fellow citizens die in such mass numbers while they enjoy the fruits of the white men's farms which they had "nationalized".
No Inflation is measured weekly. Robert Mugabe is still accusing British for his inability to govern the country. It is about time, the Zimbabweans kick him out of power.
Zimbabweans are too weak to kick him out of power. He has an iron grip on the country. I am just hoping that with his age, he can leave everyone in peace. Just had a good night sleep and do not wake up forever......
He rules the country with a rod of iron, you complain about him or the country and you are a has been.Until they sort out the major problem with the country ie Mugabe i cannot see the reason to keep on printing money as it is a pointless exercise really!!! The only way i can see that they will move forward away from the current situation is either a internal uprising as the people have had enough or external intervention and i think it will happen sooner rather than later.
If the weekly inflation is 8,000,000,000,000,000,000%, does that mean every $1 one week earlier is now worth $80,000,000,000,000,000? If so, why is that photo of a $100,000,000,000 note?
He controls the military and all the security apparatus, internal uprising will be bloody and may not succeed. External intervention does not seem forthcoming, Zimbabwe does not have the old fields of Iraq, I guess it will not arouse the interest of the superpowers. Trade sanctions etc served to harm the ordinary citizens far more than the ruling party.
no they measure the change in price over a week, then extrapolate for the year. Current exchange rate is about 50 quadrillion ZWD to 1 USD.
Actually, the graph shown below seems to indicate inflation on the order of about a decillion percent, extrapolating for the whole year of 2008. That is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000%, or 1e33 %. Edit: I used the green line because the gov't is probably lying, and we know there wasn't any deflation, like the blue line shows.
I think Zimbabwe needs to use a logarithmic scale for their inflation chart rather than just a linear scale for % of inflation. Something similar to the Richter scale should do better.
Well, I think its useless to count and bring ecomomic figures towards this country, as there is no economy exists, which bogart just showed us... Its like 16-18th centuries.
The way their govt grab the assets of the white farmers showed no laws at all. It is no wonder that no economy exist because there isn't any laws protecting basic economic rights and human rights.
