Running Adsense on the site makes is profitable , so what is the actual defination of non-profit website?
I have already passed the zeal test but even after that getting a site listed there is a task.Even after doing all test they will just take informational sites.
I took both tests and finsihed it but then found out it doesnt allow commercial sites, even if its just tutorials..
Zeal doesn't worth the stress in my opinion. The editors will not accept your site for silly commercial reasons
zeal is a waste of time. I've had one site listed there for 1yr+ and based on my logs I don't think I've had more than 50 referrals from their network
I think I have submitted three sites. One was rejected because they refuse to create the proper category for it. One was accepted and it did have adsense on it. Another one is pending or was accepted and has adsense on it as well. Can't really remember... I do know I have never gotten a referral from there. Although I think general purpose directories are a big waste of time other than for links.. Most people will never use general purpose directories, because they are unlikely to be deep enough to be useful. When people are interested in a specific topic, they might start off with a general directory, but as soon as they go to the first relevant site or two they will likely find much better avenues and references.
You can't think that the page containing your url has rank 0 so you won't get anything. Anyway looksmart uses zeal.com and if someone searches for your particular topic you will surely be listed first for that topic then others who are not in zeal. I am a zealot myself so i know what i am talking about.
I am listed on looksmart for a competitive keyword that brings me 10 visitors every 6 months. The same keyword on the major serps brings me 30000 visitors every month. I am a webmistress myself and so i know what i am talking about.
You would have been listed at 100th page in looksmart. That's why. I am also a webmaster so i know what I am talking about.
I registered there a couple months ago. Tried for 2 hours to pass that friggen test... you can only miss 2 questions out of 20 - after a while all the questions look the same :/ Gave up, tried again last week. After 7 or 8 trys I scored a friggen 100 on it Submitted 2 sites 5 days ago and... dun dun dunnnnnn... still nothing. It's like the DMZ, but without the big payoff. I browsed their forum only to find a hundred posts about people complaining. One person replied "The evaulation tool that alerts Zealots of new submissions has been brokens for months now." ... so maybe that has something to do with it.
Yes, about 2 years ago zeal was worth the time, I took the test, etc...used to submit my own sites. But....it has since become so difficult to get a site in now, and many of the categories are messed up. The commercial/non-commercial deal is way to picky. I agree with most folks here. Don't waste your time anymore with it... To many folks with "power" (as they see it) gone to their head....
