As I read the forum I notice that everyone seems to be frustrated as hell when it comes to YPN and how the ads generally don't display properly. It has been challenging to make a cent in some cases while in other cases people seem to be breezing by sipping (insert drink of choice). I'd like to see if anyone has been testing different senarios on how to get more relevant (and higher paying) ads to the table. We all know of the simple tricks: 1. Title tag - Start with the keyword you want to target 2. Content - Place keyword rich content on the page 3. Ad targeting - Set your ads from YPN to disply better ads If you have succesfully acheived results by some other method I would be very interested to find out what has worked and what hasn't.
My ads hardly ever change even though my content changes daily. I have yet to figure out how they get the information to display appropriate ads but would also like to know.
content but some how they weight other words higher than some.... title text is big part but not all... as i have plus size clothing site and cant even get one plus size ad!
I guess mine is the same as yours bro but i wouldn't care anyway I receive a few bucks daily, just enough for hosting .
My solution is switch back to google and leave the $50 earned on the table... back to google now. Be back to yahoo when they have better targetted ads. Ive got the same 2 ads for a bout a month now.
What Works: 1. Don't use ad targeting 2. Title targetted to exact Kw 3. H2 or H3 with exact kw 4. kw RIGHT BEFORE the YPN ad code It also helps a LOT if you don't have other unrelated text on the page - for instance if the page kw is "coca cola" you don't want the words "real estate" on the page... I'm currently doing the 4 things above and I'm doing over 15% CTR daily average.
I used the ad targeting to make sure that I had some ads that were of use to my readers. Since my blog deals with travel, the common sense target would be flight tickets. I am going to make sure that I use the H2 tags as well, because I haven't been doing that. I do sprinkle in my keywords.
This post is 3 years old. A lot has happened since then. But good to know you have it all figure out.
Do H2 and H3 tags really benefit you? Many of my articles have strong or bold tags and maybe I might do better redoing the html tags.
