I am not 100% sure, but I was just told by a very reliable source that my site along with others, and more over time, are being hit with YPNs own type of 'smartpricing' system. Looks like those of us that have or are experiencing long term drops in earnings........... the high EPC with ypn is over, even before it went international
My earnings per click are down 80 cents on some sites! Overnight as of Friday! Plus they are giving me horrible ads, as opposed to the "good" ads I was getting before.... most of my sites used to be CPA sites and they all convert very well... so who knows what the basis of them doing that is.
that's interesting to hear, and what's this reliable source? I noticed increase relevancy though compared to a month of ago. Smart pricing is only natural and the smartest thing Yahoo or google can do. If the advertisers aren't happy, then no one is happy.
A smart pricing system was inevitable with YPN, IMO. I'm not surprised at all. Better to have a smart pricing system than to lose "deep pockets" advertisers. Yup. I think publishers with high quality or easy verifiable traffic don't have much to worry about. As always, IMO. AmCy
YPN hasn't tried to hide anything about a system in place like smart pricing as far as I know. They talked about having their own version back when I was at WebmasterWorld Pubon 10 in Vegas last November.
I am with YPN as of today and April has been better than March, which was better than Feb. My traffic and clicks stayed the same all along. So when some of us are having hard time with YPN there are others who are doing fine.
I don't think it has anything to do with "smart pricing" Earning fluxuations can be attributed to the spending habits of advertisers, and Yahoo's inventory of advertisers participating in the beta.
I am noticing some 9 cents clicks which I NEVER had before. The high clicks are still there too. YPN still kicks the #$#$ out of Google Adsense.
I am now on May 1, and have been averaging all of April about, every 30 clicks on ads with YPN earns me $5.00 total, it has been like that now for 30 days. Last month and before, I would have made $25+ with 30 clicks, that is why I am thinking a type of smart pricing system has kicked in. Whatever it is, it is has now lasted over 30 days
Look at your channel reports at 4am when they are posted. One channel gets only 1 click and it says you made 9 cents from that channel on that day. Seeing what ad delivered that click is more difficult but can also be done. YPN calls them something else: "reporting categories" I think.
"I am noticing some 9 cents clicks which I NEVER had before." I found that comment very interesting. One morning, I saw 9¢ here, there and everywhere. It was WAY beyond statistical probability. And the next day. And the next day. I was going to make a "9 cents post", but didn't. At one point, nine cents seems to have been selected as the "standard" YPN low-ball payout. It reminds me of the Google "only pays 3¢" posts of a few months back. Well, it is sometimes said that YPN pays 3 times what AdSense pays. This would fit right in with that statement. Coincidence? If the minimum bid at AdWords is 5¢, is the minimum bid at YPN 15¢? Anybody else notice a lot of nine-cent clicks?
