Is there anyone out there with a rep that is not Red and more than 1 - 100 posts on this forum that is using YPN that can comment on it? I've noticed that almost everyone who has sung Yahoo's praises seems to be a newbie, and it has me a bit suspect of plants. Anyway.. Thanx.
I dont have that many posts, but I've been using YPN here: http://www.justpressplay.net/ and it's been performing well. Better than adsense, azoogle, clicksor. I've tried quite a few. I think their payout are a lot higher as they are trying to bring people in. But for now it's been great for me.
I'm not sure how many posts I have, and I think my rep is green. ;-) I've been using YPN here: www.DiscussCareers.com for a couple of weeks. It's performed better for me than Adsense did on this same site. I removed the Adsense code and inserted the YPN code in the same spot, using the same ad sizes.
Err.. and what if I was using YPN, would my opinion not count? It's a beta and there's enough posts in here from long time members regarding the program. Suspect of plants? Since YahooSarah can't be arsed to post after her initial introduction I doubt they have the resources to be fannying around posting with aliases on forums blowing their own trumpets. Where and what are your serious questions, anyway? Pete
I do not have over 100 posts, but I lurk here quite a bit and have been a member here for about 10 months. I can assure you I am not in any way associated with YPN other than being a beta tester. I did not create this account just to promote YPN. I have used fastclick, clicksor, burst, adsense, targetpoint, azoogleads, kanoodle, casale, etc. Since I started YPN about a month ago I have been making 2 - 3 x with YPN than I made with adsense. I am not just hyping YPN, there reporting features need work and it looks like their categories do not work 100% correct (I have divided my site into various categories, but every day it seems I still get a few impressions with no associated category), etc.
I don't even know offhand how many posts I have but I'm a newbie. And I think your question is appropriate. I had the same question. I agree with you. Yahoo is not very good. Did not have good experience at all so far. I hope they will improve. Perhaps it can work for some sites though. Here's is the trick. They are giving a higher payout. If you are doing adsense arbitrage, it can be a great match. Set up only one ad unit. Because multiples w/ Yahoo is a waste. Make no outside links. Only a few internal links. Make the internal links blend in VERY well with the yahoo ads. In those cases, your clickthrough can be similar to Google but with a higher payout. Note, I don't advocate the above method. In fact I hate those sites and ban them from my adsense. But I can easily see those guys doing better with yahoo than google. At least for now. For the regular white hat webmaster, it won't work though. Make sense?
er HOW can you say that to the member here with the lowest rep???!!! Doesn't that count the few DOUBLE red members!!!! I've been using them for a week now, and it ROCKS, when it comes to earnings, but just like the messed up redies say, the CTR STINKS, but the earnings per click ROCKS. Now, ignore the redies answers!!!!! They are looking to get coal this Christmas!!!
well , i am in YPN and i am also in adsense ... and until i got a friendly warning from yahoo that i cant use yahoo and google adsense on same page. i was running them on the same page and with roughly the same clicks on both banners my earnings in google accounted for abt - (sep 3rd to sep 15th) Totals (impressions) 74,614 (clicks) 356 and pay like 50 cents per click on avg my earnings in YPN during the same period Totals: (impressions) 73,295 (clicks) 248 and pay like 5 dollars per click on avg I dont find it believable ... with YPN , the first month ended in september and they have a 45 day waiting period before they pay ... so i wonder if they are gonna pay eventually ? anyone got actual payment from YPM yet ? i am kinda skeptical with it being in Beta and havent been paid yet and so i am kinda having google ads on 80% pages and yahoo on 20% pages.. please tell me what u guys think abt it ... thanks
Learn how to read the fliping TOS. They pay 45 days after the month ends. Let us know when you become the first to get the Termination E-mail. WAH!!! WAH!!!! I broke the rules but I thought I could get away with it!!! Can I place MSN ads on the same page as Google??!! *Checks E-mail* WAH!! WAH!!!! I just got dumped from Google!!! WAH!!! It's not fair that I need to obey the rules and read the TOS!!!!! And your last post broke the rules, you're not allowed to post stats. Yahoo is more strict the Google.
YPN is awesome, no question! Just awesome! They are paying great, and although their ctr is low, the amount you'll make per day is at least double (for me that is!) Most people are waiting it out to see if this lasts, but I am confident that it is only going to get better!
whats ur problem buddy ? i did say i got a friendly reminder and i have corrected the situation , i dont have the yahoo and google on the same page anymore and i did mention the 45 day waiting period ... if u have memorized the TOS , thats good for u ... i was just asking if anyone actually got a payment from them and i like YPN ... i would be switching to it 100%, just waiting for a first payment ..
For what it's worth, here's my opinion of YPN: YPN has a very limited ad inventory at the moment while it's in beta. Which I find to be highly curious. I was always under the impression they were using overture's inventory for the publisher network, but apparently they are separate with the lack of ad inventory. The CTR suffers due to this. However, since YPN is new they are trying to get as many publishers as possible in the beta period with higher payouts. If you do a search on the overture bid tool for a term your site serves ads on, you can pretty much assume you'll get the same payout that the bid tool shows. This will probably only last through the beta from what I can see and have read. Would it be smart to turn over all of your ad inventory to YPN? Hard to say. I've done it with about 80% of my sites, only because at the end of the day I get paid more with YPN then I do with Adsense. Google has more up to date tracking, image ads, and more options for units, however I prefer the higher comissions.
I am not confident it will get better. In fact, I KNOW it'll get worse. This is how Google used to be when they were starting out, and over time they took more of the pie. Right now I bet we're seeing 90-100% of the profit on the system while it's in beta. We have to. Yahoo needs us to test their system. The incentive for us to do this is the highest possible comission. They could start to slowly pull it back, and still be ahead of Google, which I do see them doing towards the end of beta. They still need to work on their inventory. If they want to show the same ads, they better start paying CPM. I bet forums are getting killed with YPN right now (which is why my forum doesn't show YPN ads).
